Replace clock spring and PIWIS Coding labor time 1-2 hours.

Add multifunction and heating cost around $600 including labor time, suncoast quotation $700 without labor.☺https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/991G2GT.html
If interesting carbon fiber version wheel,971 carbon wheel price is cheaper than others version, but need replace whole harness in wheel to fit old car, wire harness cost $100,971 wheel with different socket typehttps://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU971CFSW.html
I have installed a new Macan wheel/airbag with MF.
I had my appointment with the dealership this morning, but they were unable to program the MultiFunction as I did not have Enable Code for the MF wheel.
Where can I get a code from, or was the dealership not programming correctly?
I do not have SportChrono, but was upgrading from a Sport Wheel to a Macan MF (PDK) wheel

Some update about gpsadapter MODE SWITCH support project, all in this video

Great work Li Paul.

While you are in there, any chance you can add a setting for those of us in the UK and other affected countries, so that the previous chosen mode persists after turning off the engine. I.e. if you shut down in sport mode, when you start up the next day it is still in sport. Tbh I never want to leave sport mode I just want to turn off/on the PSE when arriving/leaving home.

There is another box that does this, but to keep things simple and stop them conflicting with each other it would be great if you could add this functionality.

Update, I just got a message from Li Paul that he is finally finished with the construction of the adapter with the mode switch capability, PLUS, you can get it with memory features so whatever mode you switch to (sport, sport +, PSE), it will remember it and still be activated the next time you start the car. I've had the GT Sport Design wheel for a while now and my mode switch is just a useless wart, but soon I'll be able to use it to switch modes, and to select what features I want turned on when I start up without the annoyance of selecting them. Great work, I'm a satisfied customer, and available to help anyone with installation issues. No connection, etc.

Anyone know the diameter of the GT4 steering wheel and the Sport Steering wheel in the S/GTS? I have the S/GTS wheel and it feels like a bus, really need to change this. Put up with it for 2 years now.

Also anyone know how much i could get for Sports Steering Wheel and Airbag?

Cheers.

"bus...!" Ha, ha like no bus I have ever driven! :hilarious:

I think the diameter of both wheels are very close, for me the reason for the change would be for the style of the spokes and multi-function capability... for reference you can look up the new cost of a Sport Wheel and airbag on Suncoast, but like anything selling it used is another story all on its' own, need a buyer who is willing to pay.

It just feels so big. Test drove a GT4 on the weekend and wheel felt so much smaller. But struggling to find diameters.
The new 718 GT style wheel has a diameter of 14.2 in. (369 mm), IMHO the best route for the upgrade ($945 USD). The Alcantara SD wheel in my GTS is the same size...

I'll need to measure up my GTS steering wheel, it came with the sports steering wheel. Anyone know the diameter of the GT4 Wheel? Also anyone have a link to the GT Sport design wheel?

369 sounds big. Was that smaller than what was in your GTS?

Do you have a link to this wheel?

Thanks

Yep, https://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.com/oem-parts/porsche-gt-sports-steering-wheel-in-alcantara-99104440023

My GT Sport Designs wheel is right at 14" which converts to 355 mm. Its perfect IMO. 14.2" is 361 mm.

Perhaps it depends on how tight the tape is, 0.2" is not much... ;) BTW, I didn't do the math, just quoted the information from the link above, you are right though 14.2" is 360.68 mm

My Alcantara GTS wheel measured in at about 369-370 mm, this could be padding thickness, I noticed that the leather wheel feels thinner, therefore possibly smaller in diameter.

Thanks! That seems a really good price. Im guessing you need a new airbag too? Can you remove he Sports mode plastic switch gear? Also can you remove the multi functional bits and fit the normal plastic pieces? Im guessing the 718 wheel is the same size as the GT4 wheel?

This Boxster Spyder wheel seems good value. https://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.com/oem-parts/porsche-steering-wheel-99134780347a34/?c=Zz1zdGVlcmluZyZzPXN0ZWVyaW5nLXdoZWVsJmk9NjkzNDE3NzUmcj0xJmE9cG9yc2NoZSZvPWJveHN0ZXImeT0yMDE2JnQ9c3B5ZGVyJmU9My04bC1oNi1nYXM=

Doesn't say if its in Alcantara though.

Yes, new airbag is required, its smaller than the older style. You can change the plastic pieces, they are all on the parts diagram, I have no idea how much they cost, but I'm sure a dealer can order them. I was going to remove the Sport mode dial on mine, but Li Paul is perfecting the BT software so it will work and I'm going to leave it on. I also have the heat switch on the back of the bottom spoke, but that is of no importance so I won't change that. I believe the 718 wheel and the GT4 wheel are identical, but I have no proof of that. There are a few wheels on eBay. FWIW I sold my old wheel and airbag on eBay, didn't ask enough as they both sold really quickly, but they will have some value, the bag probably more than the wheel.

I want Alcantara. My sister is costing friends in the US so might get her to bring this back for me.

Can you remove the sports plus thing that sticks out ok the 718 wheel, does it leave any holes if you do remove the plastic housing? I don't mind the multifunction bits, if they work they would be handy.

Thanks, I'll get there soon 🙂
