STOP TIME: Sunday June 27, 2010 5 PM

DESCRIPTION: The Green Cup of Polo is an event where all of Washington DC high society comes out in their Polo Finest for a day of watching polo and raising money for the environment. The Green Cup of Polo hosts ambassadors, dignitaries and local celebrities as well as DC society who are interested in supporting a green charity. The Green Cup is the premier Polo Cup of the season and is covered by multiple media outlets and is usually featured in Fashion Washington magazine.

DRESS: Polo can be compared to going to the Derby where big hats and summer dresses are worn for the ladies and men wear summer suits or dress pants with a sport coat. Dress shirts and polo shirts are nice choices as well.

REGISTRATION: Green Cup Polo, online registration, purchase tickets under Courtney Farr as contact name.

REGISTRATION COST: $100 VIP tickets which are a tax deductible donation. Ticket includes entrance into the Porsche Club VIP tent, free VIP parking in front of the VIP Tent, Whole Foods catered lunch and entrance into all pre and post Green Cup parties and launch events throughout May and June TBA. From I-495, MD

Take the River Road (190) exit and go west. Follow River Road 11 miles to the T-intersection. Turn left to continue on River Road (190W) and drive approximately 4 miles.
Continue on River until you get to Hughes Road. Turn right onto Hughes Rd. and drive 1/4 mile.


From points East of Poolesville, MD

Take route 28 going west (Darnsetown Rd). Turn left onto 112 (Seneca Rd). Continue straight about 4 miles on River Rd (190) going West.
Continue on River until you get to Hughes Road. Turn right onto Hughes Rd. and drive 1/4 mile.


From points South/West in VA (Loudon County)

Take route 15N to White's Ferry Rd. VA-655 Whites Ferry Rd. becomes White's Ferry when crossing into Maryland (Check for schedule and fares). White's Ferry becomes MD-107. Drive approximately 1.5 miles. Turn Left onto Hughes Road. Drive about 1.2 miles. Capitol Polo Club is on the right.

I heard today that the Porsche part of the Green Cup is now $30 per person 100% tax deductible.

Everyone missed a pretty cool event. It took me a while to comment because I was waiting until I had time for the pics but non of the pics were any good so....

I admit it was entirely too hot though and there wouldn't have been much to it without the VIP access but getting $100 VIP tickets for only $30 and being the only cars at the entire event with covered parking was very cool. It was all you could eat and all you could drink. There was one Senator (+entourage), several ambassadors, Ms Md and Ms DC at the event. It was crazy hot all day and then as soon as the fashion show started it started to absolutely down pour. The girls still somehow did the entire event out in the rain.

I was the only person from 'the planet' there and only a few PCA'ers were there but PCA never advertised it until the evening before so it really did fall between the cracks.
