My Cayman R was a good start but the new GT4 needs the following improvements:-

More weight loss than R
More power (400hp) - Flat 6 baby, a dummed down 991 Gt3 engine please
PDK-S
More GT3 aligned suspension - ie. 30mm lower and adjustable elements over a sports suspension 20mm option
More downforce front and back
Carbon seats
Cage
LSD that lives on
PTV
Transmission mounts that change
Wider rubber F - 245/ R- 295

I would buy one in an instant

Ken-

Would it be helpful to PAG to offer an opinion about what people on this thread would be willing to pay? I personally would rather not go over $100K, but as always,

YMMV

You can/should offer it in the format of:

Things I Want:
1) Price under $XXXXX
2) Carbon Fiber Widgets etc. etc.

or
Things I DO NOT Want:
1) Price over $XXXXX
2) Sunroof, etc. etc.

Thanks!

1. Bring back the dipstick! So I can really check the oil.

2. Bring back the coolant bottle, or equivalent, so I can both track the coolant level and appearance.
Good idea. I'd also want easier engine access...like maybe toggle clamps instead of screws and a carpet that doesn't require pry-tools to get off. When I go to track days, I leave that carpet in the garage. Easier to hear the engine with a helmet on.

BTW: DO NOT drive the car without the engine cover. Road dirt comes into the passenger compartment with great speed. I found that out the hard way.

Let's keep it simple:
I want a GT3 transplanted into a Cayman / Boxster. Give me all the options and standard equipment that a GT3 has and oh make it 300# lighter. Build it and the buyers will come.
Please leave off
CL wheels

1. Hydraulic power steering (please no electrical wizardry)
2. LSD
3. Omit automated rev-blipping (or just have it as an option)
4. True dry-sump
5. An actual oil cooler and not just a heat exchanger
6. If manual is available, keep it at 6 forward gears
7. Switching PSM off, actually switches it off
8. LED/Bi-Xenon should be standard, not an option
9. A dip-stick, dipstick
10. Translucent coolant reservoir, ala 986 tanks
11. A water pump that actually lasts beyond 50k miles (this may be too big an ask)

Is there some part of:

"[give Porsche planner] .
..your list of "must haves" or "must NOT haves" in the new GT4" and "Take discussions, comments, arguments to the other GT4 thread. Do not add "me too". Stay on topic"

that is difficult to understand? Are there some words, that are the wishes of the OP, difficult to grasp?

If you want something to appear in this model, then list it.

If you do not want something to appear in this model, then list it.

Take anything else but your LIST of items to the GT4 thread.

Well, if performance is truly the main goal, I would love to see a high-powered, ultra-light, full carbon body version of the cayman or 911's like Lamborghini's Sesto Elemento (carbon). Other than that, these cars are so close to perfect, it would be foolish of me to ask for much more.

+1 Boy would I love a dipstick!!!!

and allow me to reset those annoying service reminders.
and full-carbon wheels standard.
and how 'bout optional mesh grill guards for the air intakes front and sides
and how 'bout super-sized side vents
and how 'bout a dipstick for the tranny

Besides the extra power, to be lightened as the R was or even more (no need for carpet or beauty trim pieces in the frunk, use AGV smaller battery).
limited slip differential standard
18 inch light weight wheels, 5 bolts, optimized for weight and strength (not beauty) and a simple with few spoke design, 6 or 7, that do not take long to clean, painted in brake dust color as standard
A/C not standard
No stereo as standard
GT 2 seats standard in cloth (but there is no need for the carbon fiber appearance, just leave the glass reinforced plastic exposed)
Low base price (relatively speaking as the R was)
A 6 speed MT as standard, first 4 close ratio, but with 6th gear as super overdrive for cruizing the interstate at 75 mph at 2000 rpm. We can shift down for ascending a hill.
Steering feel as close as possible to the R
Lots of options for those who like them and for Porsche's profitability
No special color such as Peridot was for the R, to hold the base cost down
Removable and cleanable mesh for the grill to make bugs easily removable before the radiators get clogged.
If I could get all this I would buy a GT4 and sell my R

1) Base price under $90,000
2) Front suspension lift as an option

5) A de-contented GT4 Clubsport option (as few electronic gadgets as possible)
6) Weight under 2700 pounds
7) Alcantara interior standard

Things I DO NOT Want:
1) No turbo
2) No 4 cylinder
3) No LSD on base
4) No PSE on base
5) No PTV on base
6) No PASM or SPASM on base
7) No Sport Chrono on base

I would like to see 400 HP and 400 lbs.of torque with a LSD. Would not be too happy if they just added another 10-20 Horsepower on there. For the next generation Cayman it would be nice if Porsche would address the seating position inside so there was a bit more leg room and a bit more room inside so that the seats could tilt back a bit further then they currently do. At or under $90K should be what the price should be at. The M3 comes with over 400HP and 400 lbs. of Torque for under $90K well equipped and optioned out.

Can't wait for this car to come out.

OK. Coloring inside the lines today:

Things I Want:

6 Speed Manual

Carrera S or similar wheels.

Bose/Nav as option.

A/C as option.

GT3 or better engine internals for track-day reliability.

Power on par with GT3.

Price on par with GT3

Coil-overs
Adjustable camber
Adjustable rear toe links.
Lightweight forged wheels (rotary forged OK, so long as weight isn't too high) that look something like 981 Carrera S wheels.
Larger Rotors for better brake leverage.

Lightweight, sturdy, good looking seats with harness holes -available as no-cost option

Alcantara interior option ala GTS.

Roll Bar Option

Dealer Installable "Track-Pack" Pre-Made Coolers Option (Call it "Extreme Weather Option" for political correctness?)

Real and Durable LSD. Less reliance on stability control (and rear brakes) for good handling.

Don't Want:

Center-Lock wheels
PDK as only transmission choice.
Garish Wings and Black Wheels as Standard
Wimpy LSD

Want:
Robust LSD
Appropriate cooling for engine for DE's
Appropriate cooling for gearbox for DE's
PDK-S for those who want PDK
No A/C, no radio by default
Spartan interior like the Cayman R
Seats capable of harness mounting, like the Cayman R
GT3 control arms

Don't want:
NAV
Gizmo electronics: phone, audio interface
Crazy iDrive like interface
PASM
Center-lock wheels
Fancy leather interior
Sunroof

Basically, for a GT4, I do not want a 'lifestyle' car, I want track capable machine that is street legal.

Cheers,
DJM

My "dream" would be a CS GT4 with 450 HP for $30K.

But anyway, using pre-existing parts and engineering to save cost and complexity, here's my reasonable list for a $90k base car, intended for track and performance:

400+ HP 3.8L derivative (likely costs Porsche incrementally more than the 3.4L)
Weight around or less than 3000 lbs
PASM-sport like the GT3
PTV-Plus like the GT3
Adjustable chassis like the GT3 (toe, camber, anti-roll)
Heavy duty factory cooling
Available 6MT
Sport seats with harness cut-outs
Minimal interior standard
A/C delete and Radio delete options
Big-*** iron brakes standard, pccb optional
19" wheels standard, max

Do not want:

4 wheel steering (the Cayman already is an inch longer than 911 wheelbase)
center-lock wheels

Anything else in the catalog, let people option out to their liking.
