Help with Cayman purchase

Hey guys, I am in the process of looking for a Cayman, this would be my first one, I have had several 944 PCA Porshce's. So I found a 2006 Cayman S, 31K original miles, car looks new condition. The issue is it has a branded title due to hail damage that was repaired some years ago. I have had the car checked and PPI was near perfect, car drives like new. I did address a few items, my insurance will insure the car, also the DMV will issue a new title. So I have read resell value will be less, the question is how much? How would I determine the value of this car since it has a branded title?

Any other advise would be much appreciated .....

thanks

If you are worried about resale value, I would not buy this car. Many people will avoid a branded title, and most loan companies won't loan money to a branded title.

Are you solely looking into the 987 or was that the best deal that's within your budget? I was never a fan of the 987, just a personal preference though
I would say on salvage title the price should be 60% of a regular priced car. That being said for a piece of mind I would pass on it. But if it checks out like you say then I would offer 60% of kbb of the same car with clean title.

I am really not concerned with resale, I plan on keeping this car for some years. No problem on a loan, I am paying cash for the car. I really like the Cayman S and the budget is a concern as well. thanks for your comments.

So KBB is showing about 25K as the normal value for this car, the guy is trying to get 23K for it. I really don't think he will drop the price that much to be honest. Just so you know, I am a PCA member and do the PCA Peachstate Concours events. This would be the primary usage for this car, outside of the nice weekend ride. Just to tell you how much I drive my Porsche, my last 944 I owned for 1 1/2 years and only put about 1000 miles on it. Since this would be a much newer car, would probably put more miles than that. thanks for your comments

Overpriced. I would rather find a clean title, perfect condition one for $25k. That car is worth 16-17k max with the marked title.

Given your planned usage, if you sold in 5 years you'd have a low mileage, concours condition car. In that case I'd be asking the market value in the day. If you can document the branding was due to hail, that should reduce the concern for the salvage title.

I'd go for it in your place.
