Not bad looking at all. The color looks nice too.

The 718 looks great, but so does the Vette.

It really does, too bad it's that stupid flat-4. I'm not starting the whole debate again, and I get why they are doing it, but the sound coming out is a shame because it IS stunning.

Wait until people start cranking on those turbos and getting 500+ ho out of their Boxsters and Caymans.... people are gonna forget all about the details.

If it sounds as good as the flat 6, I'd be fine with it.

Going to 500HP from 2.0 or 2.5 L will make it only more laggy in response. You need a bigger turbo to get that HP and heat inside that mid engine lay-out will be your nemesis.

Lol... the 2.5 is already approaching 400 hp. If the longblock can handle more boost and a fee other tweaks, 500 hp isn't out of the question.

And there are ways to handle heat. If you can cool a 1000 hp turbo lambo, you can cool that little 4cyl.

And really the point is, it will be cheaper than tuning the current flat six.

Its all been done before and the same will happen to Porsche engines as happens to others - knock knock boom :)

There will be threads with mystery engine implosions - HP is useless unless you know how to use it to the full. Most don't.

The solution is the same as it always has been - e.g. most are far better off taking performance driving classes than adding additional HP. :)

Alternatively buy a 991.2 S or 991 Turbo and save yourself a whole world of pain.

Porsche hasn't been very smart with the 987s and 981s in my opinion. While the chassis are very tunable, the engines are not unless you pull them out, rip them open and start replacing extremely expensive parts.

Porsche has a nasty habit (at least for American car culture) of building engines that can handle their exact output and nothing more (and sometimes not even that).

Hopefully they've figured out that if they over build that long block a little, they'll have an even more popular track toy for many years to come. If not, I'm afraid they boxster/cayman is gonna die a painful death.

I mean seriously.... for $1000 bucks I can go buy 4.8 chevy v8 from a truck with 100k miles on it, bolt up a turbo or two and dial the boost up north of 15lbs.... the stupid thing will provide another 50k miles of service before it gives up.

It's no joke. I've seen it done half a dozen times. Meanwhile, I hold my breath every time my rpms breach 6k because porsche cared more about money than making an engine that could actually live up to its billing.

Porsche 718 Reviews

Looks like a number of 718 reviews are online:

Evo Magazine
Porsche 718 Boxster S review - prices, specs and 0-60 time | Evo

Pistonheads
Porsche 718 Boxster S: Review | PistonHeads

Auto Express
New Porsche 718 Boxster 2016 review | Auto Express

The Telegraph
New 718 Boxster review: has Porsche blown it?

The consensus appears to be that the numbers are better, but it's lost some soul when it comes to the engine department. Most of the criticism seems to be of the engine note. Evo and the Telegraph were most damning in that regard.
