Today I absent-mindedly left something on the interior "shelf" of the frunk and closed the lid. Luckily, I didn't slam it, but my negligence did yield a small dent in the form of a subtle wart on the hood. I'm not yet sure if I can live with it (I can only see it if I'm looking for it), but if I did take it to a shop to get the dent removed, would I need to replace the 3M protective film that I have on the hood?

Thanks in advance for the input.

This type of dent is a perfect candidate for a PDR. it is easily accessible and probably not creased.
if done right, from the underside, you should not have to replace the film.
If it does show signs of loosening over the repair; 15 seconds of heat from a hair dryer and a lght wipe with a soft detailing cloth and it should be fine.

you should visit/call a PDR (paintless dent removal) guy in your area.
They should be able to assess the damage and advise further.

share your concern on the film - they will usually try to "massage" the dent out if they can starting with least aggressive methods and then moving up.
