Because Apple has not made available the USB interface for app developers. There are additional explanations on the KrafTechnik link.

Cool tech but what information that isn't already available and is useful is provided with the standard or the enhanced version? Many of the reports listed would be repeated functions from the instruments so there must be a "killer" bit of data that makes this a must have.

The struggle is that unless they implemented the CAN Bus interface too, its pretty generic in what you get. That can be very interesting when tied with the accelerometer and gps from the iphone, but still missing some key potential.

This could have potential. Assuming that someone writes some cool software for it.

Depends on the car. On the BMW's just having an oil temperature reading is nice for a lot of them ;) They only get water temp on many of the models.

Also, this would almost be worth it just to scan and clear codes as it would work on all your cars 1996 and later.

Can you reset service reminders with this unit? If so, I would be very interested in buying it.

The hardware is just a conduit to get into the OBD through WiFi. Functions will be determined by your choice of software... because the hardware itself can use ALL OBDII / CAN functions! Research Rev or DashCommand (or some of the PC suites) to see which one has the best functionality for you!

Thanks!
