The Weather plugin no longer works with 4.76 & the latest IOS.
Plus SMS messages dont work with IOS and have never worked
Interesting, not much "improved" then!

FWIW, and Android, at least the SMS messages work, handy too, I have never been able to get emails to show up on the PCM...

I have a newer truck that supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay, this is what Porsche should do! :)

My iPhone has always worked for text, but you must specifically enable the ability within the settings on the phone side in order for it to work

It’s Settings/Bluetooth/PCM/Show notifications. You will hear a chime when a new text comes in

Email has never worked

Not sure on the PCM version, but it hasn't been updated since I bought it 5 years ago. I have had a couple different iPhones during that time and yes my current 8 is running the latest12.1.2.

The problem is many dont realize that the default for the "show notifications" within the BT settings for the PCM is off, or that the function is even there in the first place. Just because you pair your phone with the car does not mean you will automatically get your text messages. You must enable that function in the phone settings

I wish there was something that simple for the email, but I cant find it if so. My dealer said its only Android that works for email, but take of that what you will.

OK highly unlikely to be running 4.76. if and when possible would be great if you could check and confirm.

Good tip on the notifications - i will reset it all over again to give it another try.

Yeah, I'm sure its running whatever it was released with. My 981 was one of the early model Caymans as I brought it home in August of 2013 as a 2104 model. I have never had the PCM updated. Its easy to just look at your phone and check the settings at any time. If the show notifications is disabled when you hit the little "i" next to the PCM within BT, then that is likely why you aren't getting any SMS notifications within the car.

Cool - the other issue is with the weather plugin on the PCM which was pretty cool - unfortunately doesnt work anymore with IOS.

So, pretty much like Android including the chime, I wonder if anybody ever got the emails to work...

Tell me more about this weather plugin, was this an app on the phone , IOS specific or something on the PCM?

Curious about this weather plugin as well. I am an Android user. Text message works for me in the car. Cool little feature. Never got emails to work either.

My 2014 Cayman S has version 4.73. Is there posted anywhere a list of the feature adds/bug fixes for the versions up to and including 4.76? I'm curious to know if there's any reason to consider the hassle of updating to 4.76.

I bought the disc to update my PCM last month from here: https://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/store/p618/Porsche_PCM_3-1_Software_Update_DVD.html

Seems they have a few discs left and I'd be happy to part with mine since I'm done with it. Can't say I noticed any difference though. I was hoping it would fix an issue with Spotify where album art doesn't refresh, but it didn't.

That won't really matter soon since I just ordered the Carplay add-on:

Please keep us posted on how this works out, I see some internal circuit boards there and wonder about the install process. The price is tempting if it works...

I bought that disc, unfortunately it seems if you have v3.43, it will not update to v4.76. All the disc did was ask if I wanted to update to 3.43 which is what I have. I went ahead and said yes and it took about 15 seconds then popped the disc out. I am still at 3.43

Yes, I believe that the version is dependent upon the hardware level of the PCM, older hardware will not upgrade to the latest software release.

Mine is also 4.41 I took delivery of the car a week ago. It was built in Feb. So that would suggest 4.41 has been out for a while.
Earnest, welcome to the forum!

What kind of PCM do you have? What is your car?

Mission accomplished! I probably shouldn't be so impressed that the damn things works exactly as advertised, but I am! :) I have plenty of experience with car audio and electronics in general, but I found the install actually easier then it looks in their videos. Taking the head unit out of the car was a breeze, and so was taking it apart. The trickiest part was that they forgot to include the extra standoffs to mount their PCB above the Sirius satellite board, so I had to order a set of standoffs from Amazon (<$20). That, plus where they show to route their cable out of the head unit is occupied by the Sirius antenna connection, so I opted to Dremel a new hole in the case (easy, but be careful to ensure that metal particles don't get onto the circuit board - I did the work with the unit upside down, and with the sticky side of masking tape protecting things). Finding a spot to put their add-on box was a challenge at first - I thought there'd be enough space under the radio/behind the climate controls, and spent a lot of time and frustration trying to get it in there, but it was not to be. Ended up being a good thing though, because I found an excellent spot in the passenger footwell, behind that rubber flapper that's under the glovebox. Now it's completely hidden yet easily accessible for code upgrades, or if I install a back-up camera.

Functionally, it pretty much works exactly as you'd expect. Due to the technology used in the factory touch screen, trying to scroll through lists is a bit of challenge, but that's about the biggest drawback.

I'll work on getting some pics together of where I mounted the box and routed the cables.

Great news, congrats, looking forward to the installation pictures!
