Yesterday, it was the bike's turn to go out, and I looked for some new roads in the Monterey, CA area. On Hwy 68, about a mile east of Laureles Grade, I headed south on San Benancio Road which turns into Corral De Tierra, which eventually ties back into Hwy 68 just a little west of the San Benancio turn off. This was pretty wild. SB climbs up the mountain and the views up at the top are spectacular. About halfway up the mountain, the road narrows down into basically a 1-lane, it's quite bumpy, and it stays that way until you get near Hwy 68 again. And there's a lot of blind corners. But the scenery was terrific and the landscape was remote; mainly ranches and an occasional vineyard. The drive & scenery was very similar to the Tassajara loop off of Carmel Valley Road.

Bringing back memories. I was stationed at the Presidio of Monterey (DLIWC) late 60s and had my 750 Matchless Scrambler out there at the time.
