Team 987,

I've been researching 987s for years, and have test driven nearly a dozen over the last 2. On Saturday I picked up my 2010 CS. Many thanks to everyone here... Your commentary and insights have done much to educate and guide me on my purchase.

I have been seriously searching for a 987 (both first gen and second gen) for the past year. There are plenty out there, but I wanted a highly optioned automatic CS... And they are quite difficult to find! I found my CS a couple of weeks ago in Connecticut... I live in Chicago.

I had a PPI done with a local Porsche specialist, then flew out to CT test drove it, haggled a little, then bought it and drove 12 hours back to Chicago. It was literally 987 miles from door to door (I drove it around a little before I headed out on the highway, but my trip odometer read 987 when I reached my house... It was meant to be).

For those wondering, I drove it 12 hours straight through Pennsylvania (quite scenic, just watch out for cops and deer), Ohio (fairly scenic, less cops and deer), and Indiana (not scenic... Few cops, but a veritable plague of flying insects and more crappy highway condition than I've ever experienced).

The car and I got to know eachother really well on the journey. It performed beautifully. Pic attached from my second fill up (I believe it was in Western Ohio) en route to my baby's new home.

Cheers,

Sweet. Enjoy.

Used to drive my 987.1 back and forth from Florida to Pennsylvania twice a year. More often it was straight through for 19+ hours and 1200 miles. Loved just about every minute of it, excluding those last couple hours where I was punching myself to stay awake. The only down side was there was no rest stop dozing because the seat wouldn't go back far enough. So we just kept on cruising. I was younger then. Couldn't do it today. Good luck with it.

Congrats on your purchase! Your car looks like a twin of my 2010 Cayman S, except mine is a manual. Wonderful, beautiful cars. I know you will enjoy it!
