Little tiny quick squeaks, same spots--around 11 and 1 o'clock. Sounds like quiet baby kittens making one sad little "mew!"

I suppose I don't want to blast any WD-40 in there... any ideas?

Could be the clock spring. Had it replaced in our 987.2 shortly after taking delivery. Didn't fix the problem. Second replacement lessened but didn't eliminate the noise...third replacement (all under warranty in the first 3 years we owned the car) lessened the noise by about 85 percent but it's still there if you listen carefully with the windows up and the radio and HVAC completely off.

gcurnew, my 987.2 still does this occasionally. I tell my wife the car is talking to me :)

my indy told me that there's no guarantee a spring replacement will fix it for good and happens to 997 as well but are not common place (which makes me think its fixable).
checks of power steering and fluid replacements - doesn't fix it.

since the 981 is electric steering may indicate it is in fact the spring.
if the warranty is still valid, it may be good to have a chat with the service dept?
