Hey y'all, my name is Bishop and I've been a long time Lurker (well, a year at least) after picking up an '07 Cayman S M6 last spring after owning a few muscle cars and Corvettes over the years. Big fan of tracking cars and racing so I wanted to find out what the mid-engine handling was all about. Plot twist, it's absolutely incredible.

But, after unfortunately blowing up ol' faithful (M97) on the track last fall, I'm now undergoing an Audi V8 swap into the Cayman. Y'all will see me active in the classifieds looking to buy and sell parts as well as the 987 Cayman forums looking for technical info and sharing updates on my engine swap as this is shaping up to be a really fun swap that I think will elevate the Cayman into an ultimate track car.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Was it a kaboom or a "slow death"?? :) In any case, welcome to the forum, you SonofABish!! ;-) I just joined myself, by the way, and already got some personal help from these folks.

Oh cool, SonOfABish527 - Great backstory and welcome. Very cool to see you doing the V8 swap. You'll find a lot of people here eager to hear how this works out, and I'm psyched to hear you're creating a track weapon. Neat.

You've definitely come to the right place -- and you'll be surprised with what people are able to offer you with your build. Where are you located?

Cheers and be sure to post photos if you have time.
Welcome to the group!

Wasn't so much of a Kaboom but more of a slow, grinding death as I shredded the piston bearing and ultimately seized it up.

But yes, it does seem like people are super friendly and happy to help so I'm looking forward to the assistance!
I got here a bit late - but better late than never..

Welcome to Planet-9 - the Friendly (as you've noticed) Porsche Forum.

Might you be interested in starting a thread over in 987 land and posting pics as you do the conversion? I don't mean a full-fledged DIY - but some pictures of how you go about it might be fun for our members to follow, and good for you to document the swap for yourself.

Looking forward to whatever you can offer..

As my friends would say, "Pics or didn't happen!" so don't worry, I'll make sure it happens. Engine should be here in a week so hopefully will have some posts up by end of June as I get started.

Don, I will definitely be starting a thread in 987 land about the conversion once I have the engine delivered (fingers crossed I have it by next weekend...) and will definitely need some help from the community.

But until then, I'm trying to post some of the salvageable parts from the M97 in the classifieds forums in case anyone needs any replacement parts since I've already pulled them but it doesn't look like I have "access" or "authorization" to post into the classifieds. Would you mind pointing me in the direction or to a thread I can peruse to gain more info about posting to classifieds? I've check out the "Read Before You Post" type threads in the classifieds but none of them mention anything about needing said "member access" to post...any info is greatly appreciated Don! Thank!

Access to post in Classifieds is given after you've posted 10 posts (with significant content - not just "Hi!" or "Great" etc..) in other parts of the forum.

Get up to 10 and the door will magically open (oh - you also must wave a dead chicken at your monitor while saying Open-Sesame!) (Kidding..)

Damn...don't have a chicken but I do have a goat...wonder if that'll work instead?

That's the exact info that I was looking for, greatly appreciate it!
