does anyone know if the new sport exhaust option gives more hp like all the exhausts a lot of us are considering or have already done? the description on the porsche web site is 'with modified silencers'.
If it is like other Porsche sport exhausts in the past there is usually no or minimal hp gain, usually only a 'sound' difference. This has been discussed in other exhaust topics a search should turn them up.
Typically, Porsche AG resolutely denounces any HP gain, and states that its Sport Exhaust option is mearly a sound effect. There is a $$$ reason for this denial. If the factory published anywhere that there was a horsepower or torque gain from this option, they would have to recertify this engine through the EPA and DOT. Know what that costs?
So you will NEVER get anyone connected to PCNA to admit to any increase.
However, anytimeyou'modify' the sound by reducing the number of baffles inside the muffler, thereby reducing the restriction of the exhaust gas, ...
I have always ordered the sport muffler package, regardless of the claims, even if the effect is only 'audible' rather than seat-of-the-pants or dyno proven. It usually seems to hold it's resale value and make the Porsche more desirable to others to have a FACTORY Sport Muffler rather than an aftermarket set-up.
