Well a disappointing morning for me, no announcement about the 718 GT4/Spyder at the Geneva Auto Show...:(

The upside, a road trip at the end of the month to Treffen Santa Barbara in the Boxster GTS, so I can't complain too loud. :burnout:

I hate winter in the Midwest. I can’t wait to retire and move west. Seriously!

I feel for you, sports cars and snow can work, but snow and such doesn't really allow one to truly enjoy the car like is possible with a dry road unfolding in front of you...

I never forget that we have it pretty good out here.

Well after no announcement at Geneva, this article in Road and Track and talking to my SA today about a 718 GT4/Spyder... I am firm in the believe we'll just have to wait and see! :gossip:

https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/geneva-auto-show/a26662829/porsche-718-boxster-cayman-around-to-2023/

My SA said, and I agree the 981 GT4/Spyder were end of model (so to speak), with the 718 possibly carrying on for a few more years it would be surprising to see the specialty cars come out before the final year he said, but also said Porsche is the one who will decide and only then will we really know.

He went on to say that with the 718 safety recall, a hold on them and the Cayenne and no new 911 until August, used car sales are hot, although just short of an offer he did say, " I could easily sell your car, it's gone up in value because of all of this..." Hmmmm, this could be a good time to sell, best value for a 6-cylinder NA with MT... could I wait 3 years for the next car...

WAIT! that turned from a dream to a nightmare, 3 years with no sports car, that ain't going to work! but, isn't that mid engine Vette coming out this summer, R&T said $60-70K US :burnout:

A sales guy telling a customer that this is a great time to sell your car. Think I may have heard that a time or two in the past. Then it comes time to check out your car, and the sales guy gives you all the reasons he can't give you top dollar for your car.

Only too true in many cases, however in mine with the GTS bringing home a score only of 0.3 short of first place in the 2017 Porsche Parade Concours, and now looking better then it did then, I am not sure he would even try that route, but that is not my point...

More so that the lack of available cars, especially those that people want to buy is setting up for some interesting things to happen, demand for these cars locally exceeds the supply, I believe he was genuine that because he has very little available stock of new cars, exceptionally clean/unique examples are a hot commodity, spring has arrived here and the convertibles are out everywhere and so are buyers with cash in hand. He knows mine would be an easy flip, no trip to the detail shop even required.

The problem for me, I too want to drive a nice convertible on a sunny spring day! :)

LOL I know the feeling. Winter comes and the car hibernates, and you know that selling in the winter won't fetch much. So you wait to spring to get top dollar, but then temperatures hit the 60s, top comes down, and there's no way you'll sell, top dollar notwithstanding. ;)

Exactly, it hit 25C here this afternoon, now he will have to pay double to get my car! ;)
