Is there any advantage/disadvantage to using nitrogen instead of air in tires? Any performance gains?

There has been a lot written on this. What I got was that the main advantage is that the N2 should be "dry" while the typical air fill may have a lot of moisture in it.

The tire pressure should remain more consistent (not 'loose' pressure) with Nitrogen. However, I have not found checking tire pressure and adjusting for temperature changes et al to be so onerous that it makes it worth for me.

The greatest advantage is to the profit margin of the dealer that sells you the nitrogen.

The air you breathe is nearly 80% nitrogen.

If it were still Apr 1st, I would write that it will protect the inner walls of your tires from oxidizing.

I prefer to use a mixture of 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, 1% Argon and other gases, with a trace amount of air compressor oil.;)
