GREAT NEWS! 3/18/19 Are We In A 'Galactic Zoo' Protected By Aliens? Scientists Meet To Investigate The 'Great Silence'

"... idea that there are alien civilizations out there (no, not on Oumuamua) that know all about us, but purposefully hide from us. It certainly explains the "Great Silence." "Perhaps extraterrestrials are watching humans on Earth, much like we watch animals in a zoo,"

That explains a lot.

I've always known about the Fermi Paradox and the Drake Equation but consider a minute the opposite is true. We are truly alone, unique, an anomaly.

Spooky stuff. I like the zoo explanation better
:)
The aliens are definitely out there, and they're meddling. They took away two cylinders from the 718, instead of giving it the same motor as the 991. Now, they're trying to get us to drive golf carts. Back in the day, they were behind the conspiracy to put the engine in the front! Packaging, shmackaging! And they even invented water cooling!

Been 2 years today since I got my 981!

Still love looking at and driving this amazing car. A bit on the chilly side today so not great driving weather for the summer tires, but maybe a quick trip this afternoon in appreciation for becoming my sports car bestie.

Yes, I admit I do glance at her younger, faster, Miami Blue sister but we are aging well together. At least she hasn't left me crying in a ditch in the middle of nowhere. Yet.

I took my car to a local auto paint protection company since I am over 3 hours from my original installer. Very nice facility and they will be able to take over my car care saving me a lot of time. While taking a tour of the facility, a guy was shooting some video in their parking lot, turned out my car was on their FB story. What is cool is my car hasn't been washed since last August. Yes, it has been in the garage much of the winter as I only have a set of summer tires, but even so it has been driven some and still looks great. Ceramic Pro coating, been very pleased with that expense.

I got HBO to watch the last season of GOT. Mistake. But one blessing is the mini-series Chernobyl. Its a pretty good mini-series. With GOT, the writers would do some short videos about the making of it and what was in their heads when writing. With Chernobyl, the writer is talking in this Podcast: The Chernobyl Podcast. I suggest listening to it after watching each episode. There is another podcast, Bald Move TV, that is "reviewing" each episode., Those guys seem young, either not alive or a child when it happened.

The guys reviewing it, probably not alive at the time, its so strange hearing their POV. They seem clueless to all of it while I remember it as current event. Similarly, they don't understand how radiation works. How can that be? They don't teach physics in HS anymore. This is basic Cold War stuff from the 1950s.

They REALLY need to fix the US education system. In any case, this HBO product is pretty good showing what it was like to live in a socialist, state run country. Everything was for the state.

How often do you see a shop post info on how to avoid going to them for service?

https://www.augustgarage.ca/oil-change-101/

These guys do great service, and work on lots of high end cars. The link was sent to me by a friend who, when told by Porsche dealer that a water pump change in his Cayman would have to wait 1-2 weeks, got into AUGUST the next day and had his car back the day after.

How refreshing!

I'm not sure. The lawn mower is plain gas. The small tools are gas/oil mixture. You'd have to ask them.
Looked on the Sea Foam site and it looks like you can pretty much put that stuff in anything. I'll have to give it a try.

To end the year on a cheery note. It's 64 degrees out, sun is shining, got to wash the cars. How great is that?

I love global warming! I want 64 degrees all winter long!!!

Oh Chows. You're in trouble now.
I have a theory. As a kid, Christmas lights were a thing. People would actually drive around neighborhoods looking at lights. While it does have religious connotations, I think many were a Santa Claus thing. As time went by, the displays became complex: animated reindeers, lights that blinked, etc. It became very commercialized with "festivals of lights". You pay a fee and drive through a lot full of Christmas lights.

From the turn of the century on, the number of decorated houses declined. By 2009, I saw few, and they got less and less each year. Dismal, dark holiday years. The joy of the season seemed to just disappear :( Grinches and Scrooges abounded. Malls were empty. Restaurants, normally full this time of year, were fairly empty. Bah humbug.

Until this year. Last night I drove home after dark and was amazed. I could not believe how many houses in our suburban area were decorated with some kind of holiday cheer ranging from simple Christmas wreaths on doors to trees inside lit up to be seen from the outside to full on animated displays. The night sparkled with lights since I don't remember when I was a kid. And I wondered: How many are there? So I counted them. ~80% of the houses had some kind of visible outside decoration or light for outsiders to see their cheer or celebration, whatever they chose to celebrate.

I thought why? Whats changed? Why since the darkness of the last decade is this Holiday Season lit up with Christmas trees, wreaths, lights, displays? What changed from 2009 or so?

My first thought was the "great depression of 2009". People had no money then to buy Christmas trees and the like, but I reject that because you just don't throw away outside lights. You save and reuse them. Besides, this area is not exactly known for high unemployment.

Could it be Political Correctness, encouraged the last decade but discouraged today? No, its not that. I'm in deep, dark blue land so its nothing to do with the current President.

What could it be? Anecdotal as this data might be, why was a full on 80% of the houses decorated? I know, its lack of diversity. Of course! Nope, the area demographics are nowhere near the national average. Not even close. Is very diverse. Then what is it? And then I figured it out.

It's 65 degrees out in the end of January 😀

Not a winter coat in sight.
No winter boots.
No winter gloves.
I see people shorts and t-shirts during the day.
I was actually washing my car, outside, in the end of December.
No sign of any winter storms coming nor even 20 degree temperatures in the day.

Its Climate Change.😀 People are so happy for a warm winter. No salt on the road, no white cars that are usually black. No icy roads. No shoveling snow. Just sun shine and warm days ahead.

I just hope the grass doesn't' start growing. I'm out of gas to mow. If the grass starts to grow I'm going to whine.

That's my theory. Climate Change!

You might think this is satire. Isn't it a proven thing that the dark, grey winter days give people depression? Don't people need so much sunlight to feel good about themselves. Its a thing.

Warm is good. 😀
Freezing bad. 😟
Cabin Fever bad. 😧
People get sick in the winter, not so much in the summer.

Who doesn't like to see the first signs of spring? The Crocus blooming, the Robins on lawns?
