Wow Porsche must have missed the fact that the Tesla D has more than 300 miles of range and can be battery swapped in under 10 minutes. I understand if Porsche doesn't want to compete but the reasons given in the article just plain lame...
Seems the future is hybrid rather than full electric. Tesla is great, but the infrastructure isn't there yet for high performance electric lux cars. Its a nitch thing right now and full electric car equates to an ecobox to get to and from work or a grocery store in a tight city.
Buying a 60k+ car and not being able to take it anywhere other than to and from work is rough. Tesla will have you think you can go anywhere and there will always be a EV station or supercharge or some kind of mythical 'restaurant' where you can stop by and plug in to charge up while you have a nice meal...um no not in reality. Besides who carse about buying and burning premium gas after buying a car so expensive... $3k in gas for 25k miles per year is near the max anyone will do, with most half that at $1.5k per year.
Also, in real world driving Tesla S gets less than 200 miles per charge in largest battery and less than 150 miles in smaller battery... hardly enough to even make it between supercharger depending on the location.
