Hi everybody. I did a search and only came up with a few threads for spacing out wheels/tires. I'm actually curious about doing this also, but anyway on to this topic.

So I'm used to driving a car that puts the steering wheel closer to my chest. Is it possible to do this to a 2008 Cayman? I don't want to be beheaded in the event an accident occurs..

I can't say I've heard of such a thing but it is my understanding that it is better to be further away from the air bag than it is closer. How close are you now and how close do you want to be?

Its not a huge deal but I probably want the wheel several inches closer to me. But if that is not safe/feasible, a little closer would be better than nothing. Its looking like a custom job like this will be needed-

Modifying Steering Wheel Position - LotusTalk - The Lotus Cars Community

The way most cars' wheels come from the factory feels so wrong to me. Its not like I'm all that tall either..

Have you exhausted all possible combinations of steering wheel (tilt & telescope) and seating (fore & aft, up & down, and tilt) positions, without satisfaction? A customized seat mounting may be a less costly solution to your problem.
