Hi everybody,

I am hoping to proceed forward with a Cayman this weekend, and thanks to the sage advice of P9 posters, want to get a PPI done. Does anybody know a good place for a PPI in Los Angeles (ideally in the South Bay, Torrance or in Long Beach)?

Thanks in advance!

Callas Rennsport is probably your best bet in South Bay.

The most important thing to do is get a computer readout of the overrev data. Some indy shops will do this for free.
I'd skip paying for a PPI - if it doesn't cover a compression test.

Everything else - you can put it on a lift and look at it yourself. Dream Garage - $25 for one hour. Cheap.

The only Cayman specific things I'd look for are:

leaky water pump (need to be lifted)
leaky axle boots (you can do this yourself without jacking up the car by visual inspection, there's 4 of them)
check how bad the radiators are gunked up
check if the power steering fluid is low (or has vomited all over the engine)

Thanks, guys. I called Callas Rennsport yesterday and they apparently aren't doing PPIs anymore for liability reasons. They referred me to Dutch Treat in Lawndale, so I have an appointment scheduled to have the car looked at next week.
