Have a base Boxster 2005 with a window problem on the passenger side.

While driving, my window started to lower by itself a few inches then stopped, then lower again by a few inches stopped and then all the way down.

I could bring it back up using the window control button, but in order to do so, had to push the buttom like if I wanted to lower the window and then press up to bring it all the way up.

Any ideas what coul be the problem.

All help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Window regulator (the lift mechanism in the door). Unless the window motor is running when it "lowers" itself, the regulator is letting the window fall under its own weight. I expect if this is the case, one of these times when you try to raise it the window regulator cables will try to shred themselves.

Regulators are a relatively simple fix, but it's a pain getting the door panel off so you can access it. Pelican has a technical article that might be useful:
