Good morning all,
I know I don't post here much since I post over at Pelican Parts more frequently. Anyhow... Question to fellow 987 owners.

I'm looking at having the wheels on my silver CS powder coated to black semi-gloss or flat. Why?

Well... Long story short, a few weeks ago a cyclist ran a red and planted himself in my driver's side a-pillar, door, and front fender. Car's in the shop and they wanted to refinish one of the wheels that was scraped up bad. I opted not to because the other 4 have the factory coating that tends to fade, flake, and fail overall.

So... Should I keep my "stock" lobster forks and get them powder coated for about $450, or invest in new wheels all-around? I just had brand-new Yokohama tires installed so upgrading tire sizes with wheels is not an option. Gotta keep it close to the stock 19" wheels.

Thanks all!

Several questions come to mind- What kind of condition is your car in, otherwise? Do you keep it pristine, garage it, or outside/wash it occasionally? Do you like the current wheel style? Do you plan to keep the car long-term?

I agree with not just re-finishing one wheel, as the other three will never match well. Why not re-finish all four, and see if you're happy? Then, get a new set if you're not. It seems like a small price to pay.

YMMV,

John

When I had my 987, at first I painted them orange when it had 550 hp then matt black for 620 hp... Loved both.

So "Nobody cares" won the poll, but I prefer to have my wheels NOT be chipped & corroded. So I'm going with matte black. I found a local shop that can do $50 per wheel. Let's see how it goes!

What happened to the fourth choice..."invest in new wheel all-around"?
I would vote for that. OZ wheels in matte black.
