Remote Turbo System

I was watching Horsepower TV, and there was a episode on an STS remote turbo system which was installed on a corvette where space under hood was limited. The company sells a universal system which they say "installing a turbocharger on any vehicle has never been easier". The kit costs $3000 plus installation, tubing, tuning and any upgrades. The horsepower they got on the corvette was imprssive, with 5 psi of boost (which was the lowest they tested) they got a 39% increase in power. That would be 115 hp in the Cayman S, which I think would be more than enough. They say you don't need an intercooler, and you are able to put the turbocharger anywhere that you can find room for it which makes it ideal for the Cayman where space is limited.

Does anybody have any experience with aftermarket turbos?
What does everybody think of this system?

Here's the link to the system:

Well one of the pictures shows intercoolers installed unless those were really thick and huge radiators.

I'm not really convinced with the design. The pictures show the turbochargers resting under the car. If your car was lowered in any way, driving on the street would mean exposing the turbocharger to the hazards of the road.

Some of the installations the customers had an intercooler installed. However they say it is not needed in all installations. I didn't order PASM, and don't plan on lowering the car. But I've never looked under the car first hand to see if there is room under it. I've only seen photos. Has anyone been able to see if there is any free space? Also, in the Miltek exhaust article by K-man S the exhaust is shown "hanging" down a little.

Here's some good photos of when i had the car on a lift...there's some room where the headers and exhaust piping meet...room for some small turbos...the diagonal cross bars right there make for some protection to the small turboes

One of the guys in my Dodge Magnum club had this STS system installed. I think he went up to like 600HP from stock HEMI. They put his turbos in the back bumper. He said that piping was a major headache. Now Magnum is a huge car. I can only imagine headaches running four 3" diamater pipes back and forth. Don't see this happening in the Cayman.

Wildly guessing, but turbo lag would seem to be a bit more of a problem mounted remotely. With the large liter engines they install on, wouldn't be very noticeable. Smaller engines though probably would be. Of course, in the CS, the turbo would be mounted relatively close to the engine...

Neat idea though. I am all for someone ELSE trying this out on their CS and letting us know about it. It is a non-invasive install.

Forgot, we run too high of a compression ratio to make this a simple bolt-on. Tuning would be non-trivial task even at 5lb of boost. Wouldn't want to go higher without reducing compression ratio.

On the 5.7L engine there was almost no lag, on the 7L engine it was absolutely unnoticable. You might have a point about smaller CS engines. I still did not like the look of it though. They placed it behind rear tire, no matter how much you try to waterproof that place, water will get in. Now can someone say hydrolock!

Another problem is the ECU. Without access to the code and commands from OEM, there is always a chance you will lean out, so say bye bye to your engine. Biggyback components don't help.
From what I have seen, even when they get it to co-operate, something pops up that causes major damage.

tihs system looks nice, i wouldnt mind installing it if it woul give me more power, as long as its not a large lag.

i also wonder is there enough space in the cayman for it, im really intrested in it ..

please guys if anyone else has more info i hope they could share it.
