A long-term customer of ours has been very happy with our stage 2 turbo kit and stage 3 suspension package for his 2010 Cayman for some time now. However, as someone who regularly tracks his car, he is always looking to take both his and his Cayman's performance one step further. So after rebuilding/upgrading his engine to withstand more power and extensive track time, we got to work on retrofitting his non-PASM Cayman with DSC Sport and Tractive DDA active suspension.

To start things off, we began with an engine rebuild/upgrade that will allow his car to withstand more power and hold up to the extensive track time he puts on his vehicle. This rebuild kit features nikasil-coated cylinders, premium forged pistons, nitrided ductile iron rings, and turbo connecting rods. More on the specifics of this engine build can be found here.

The next phase of this set of upgrades was installing the DSC Sport and Tractive DDA active suspension combination. With this setup, we are able to use softer springs for an improved ride, while pushing the boundaries of top-level track performance. Together these products provide the fastest and most dynamic range of any electronic damper system on the market. For more details on DSC Sport and Tractive, check out some of the threads on Rennlist and 6speedonline. You can follow the build here.

Next, it's time to remove the mechanical suspension. While this coilover has been a great choice for many track enthusiasts over the years, we truly feel that active suspension is the way of the future, allowing adopters to achieve even greater track performance without sacrificing street ride:

Next, we mount the top hat and set the coilover. All Tractive DDA shocks now come with Swift springs, the only spring company – to our knowledge – that manufactures springs from wire specifically intended for autosport use.

Stay tuned for more updates on the build, as we install the rear shocks and wire the DSC module!

The build is now complete! After taking a test drive in the Cayman, Mike was so impressed with its ride that he brought his own 987 Boxster Spyder in as soon as he could to put the same DSC Sport/Tractive Suspension setup on it! We'll be updating this post with some photos from that build, as well. We also hope to pull him away from engineering long enough to shoot some ride along and fly by videos.

In the meantime, here are some photos of Marco finishing up the Cayman with the rear coilovers.

Removing the rear coilovers can be a little more time consuming, as it requires removing some interior paneling to access the top hats.

After all four coilovers are installed, Marco sets the ride height and ensures that all the cables are connected properly and fitted with any necessary extensions.
