http://www.planet-9.com/gallery/files/3/r6tkqxt500.jpg For over 10 years this 2006 Porsche Cayman S served as a test platform for a large number of aftermarket products produced for the Porsche Cayman and Boxster by companies such as Bilstein, Capristo, Champion, Fabspeed and others. The car also served as the initial "spokescar" for the Porsche Club of America Cayman Register, and for over a decade both the CaymanClub.Net and Planet-9.com websites.

The car and its online followers also inspired multiple race teams to take up the gauntlet of racing the Cayman and ultimately led Porsche to agree to develop and sell the Cayman GT4. The car has participated in a number of track events across the country, attended multiple Porsche Parades, and has even been driven by Porsche race car drivers such as Wolf Henzler. As such, this car is an important part of Porsche and in particular Porsche Cayman history.

Sadly during the first week of April 2017 the car was violently hit by motorcyclist Yammie Noob while driving on a suspended license and filming footage for his motorcycle stunt YouTube channel. We recently ran a GoFundMe campaign to help the driver of the car with out of pocket expenses not covered by insurance. That campaign was a success and Peter is on the mend, but the car remains in a "totaled" state.

If we can raise $4800 we can buy back the car from Geico and attempt to make repairs and get the car back on the road and continue its legacy. I believe this car is too important to end up in a scrap heap or melted down and turned into a fidget spinner! I learned from the last GoFundMe that helped Peter that people will read these campaigns and have questions about their validity or make snide comments based purely on conjecture. If you have a question please email me at [email protected] and I am more than happy to answer anything that I can in advance.

The followiong photos were taken at the scene of the accident. I know it looks bad, but I've been in contact with some Porsche experts who tell me it can be rebuilt, but the first order of business is to rescue the car from the scrap heap. Please help if you are so inclined!

Will Peter's own insurance company cover the accident since he has full coverage or at least sue the other driver? I wonder if he bought GAP coverage? That Cayman is definitely totaled, maybe repairable but will never drive the same.
I hope Peter is okay and able to make a full recovery.

Peter can make a claim against his own insurance company which would result in getting a value from his company and then having to determine whether or not to settle for that value (I don't know the details of his insurance policy and/or coverage only talking in general terms) If he does that then his insurance company goes after the other insurance company and if the other insurance company only insured for the state minimums and the damages go beyond that then the only recourse is to sue the driver of the motorcycle. That guy, however, is a real douche and claims he has no income while making 6 figures from his YouTube channel royalties. In the mean time whomever he has his loan through for the car is still wanting his monthly payments. There is no rental provided so Peter now has to get his own alternative transportation to get to and from work. Basically, Peter keeps getting the short end of the stick until all of this gets worked out hence the GoFundMe campaign to try and help provide him some support financially to pay some of these short term bills and help make up for any insurance short comings.

I too am hopeful that Peter will make a complete recovery as well as being able to get the car repaired and back on the road. I would suspect that if you replaced the front clip, say from a car that was hit in the rear or sides, that you'd have a perfectly fine car at that point. If it does go to the salvage yard then he needs to strip off all the expensive suspension parts, exhaust, interior parts and wheels because he can certainly get some $$$ for all of them.

(I should note that I just received an email from a P9 member asking why I started a GoFundMe campaign for a member who was too stupid to carry enough insurance, I thought that was rather callous and the person obviously doesn't understand Peter's situation. Peter has his own insurance and that company will help if a claim is opened up, but there is certainly going to be some red tape to get through until everything gets sorted out. Peter isn't the one who is at fault here.)

I love what you are trying to do here and it's the reason this forum is great. However, there is no way that clown is making 6 figures on YouTube. He only has 150K subs and most of his videos only have 25k views. This clown is probably not making 25k off YouTube let alone 100k. The best way forward is to help out Peter until his insurance company can get this figured out.

Where did this happen? I see Texas mentioned, but does anyone know what road or what town it was near? And what happened to the rider? That was a very heavy impact--must have been high speed.

I saw that video! I was watching one of the many YouTube videos that compiles clips of accidents, and I distinctly remember seeing that guy flying in the video. I try not to watch those things, but they're a bit addictive, 'cause you try to predict what will happen and how the accidents could have been avoided...

Uninsured/Under-insured coverage

I'm sorry for Peter but this doesn't make any sense. If Peter has car insurance, it should have included Uninsured/Under-insured motorist coverage particularly on a Cayman. That coverage should have made up the difference. And unless he was paying the ObamaCare tax, he should have health insurance. The motorcycle rider was certainly at fault but it's prudent to have the coverage you need to protect yourself while assuming the other guy doesn't have any insurance.

I hope he pulls out of this OK though.

The Underinsured/Uninsured motorist protection will kick in anything over the state minimum both on the property and medical.

His insurance is there to protect those who drive underinsured.

Re: Uninsured/Under-insured coverage

It's been more than a month since that accident and Peter hasn't filed a claim with his insurance co. yet? He needs to do that asap. His car could have been seen by his company's adjuster, totaled if indicated, and a check cut by now, plus his medical bills sent to the ins co. I don't understand the delay. I also hope the relevant law enforcement officials have been involved.

And "YammieNoob" and his IP address need to be banned from this site. He lost any sympathy from me when he posted online about his injuries with a photo trying to gain more attention for his video, and never mentioned Peter's injuries or the damage to Peter's car. He's a selfish ***** who only cares about making money and nothing about those he hurts. He's a disgrace to anyone involved with motorsports.

I'm sure he likely will get some coverage through his own insurance but it's a question of how much and when. We don't know what his own insurance will value the car at and meanwhile he has out of pocket expenses that aren't covered by either insurance company such as a rental car, etc.

I didn't start this campaign to replace his insurance, I started it to help give him some relief in the short term if possible.

Unless I read this wrong don't you mean "protect against those" who drive underinsured?

Personally I am dumbfounded that so many US states allow people on the road with such poor coverage amounts, if you can't pay for proper coverage you shouldn't be on the road!
