Hello everyone. I know most of the people here owns a car. We use it in order to travel to the places that we want or we use it to go to the places we need to go like office, etc. Since we are spending money on fuel, we want it to be used efficiently. In relation to that, what are the things we need to consider in order to save some money from fuel consumption?

I think a Porsche forum might be the wrong place to ask this question ;)

I want to get the most fun out of the money I spend on fuel and honestly don't care about fuel efficiency while doing so.

If you want to save on fuel, buy a small hybrid and drive it very gently. If you want to have fun, buy a Porsche, drive it hard and only pay attention to fuel when you need more of it.

Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Use auto stop/start feature. Keep PDK in basic auto mode (shifts to highest gear as early as possible). Drive very gently- accelerate slowly, begin slowing for stops/ traffic lights etc far in advance. Keep highway speeds at safest lowest speed. Not necessarily fun way to drive but would maximize fuel economy.

I'm not sure about that. We don't know what his motivation is for the question.

Maybe he bought the car and then had a change in his financial situation and now needs to reduce expenses but still wants to keep the car. Who knows.

I suppose that's possible but I think saving a few dollars a week by driving more conservatively to save money might still indicate that he's in the wrong car. I wish him the best but, if it were me and I had that concern, I would be looking at a different car.

I'll post in here on the weekend.

I will not be posting about how to reduce your car's fuel consumption[1]. I will be posting about how to reduce costs everywhere else so affording the car (and driving it as intended) is easy.

[1] I averaged 16mpg last year over 7360 miles of which 80% was pleasure driving, but when I'm on my driving routes, my average is around 8mpg and can drop as low as 6mpg.

My wife chastises me at the gas station . . . "You know you could probably put regular gas in your car if you wanted to." I don't pay any attention to her. :taunt:
