Just recently had my steering wheel, handbrake and shifter re-trimmed in alcantara which all looks great. However, when the guy who carried out the work came to do the shifter i appear to have an upgraded shift knob. Does anyone know if the top trim with the shift pattern on the image below can be removed - i need this to insert into the new shift knob i've been given.

Yes, it pops right off. There are a couple of small screws underneath, IIRC. I'd use a plastic trim tool or tape up a butter knife so you don't scratch it, though.

sat down today and tried to swap everything over. This shift knob is not like the standard one at all. In the end i had to tap it out from the inside using a metal rod as the fit was super tight. There's no clips holding it in place it just pushes into the metal top of the shift knob.
