Just wondering if my side to side free play in my shifter is excessive compared to other cars. I've got the 5 speed with short throw shifter and when in gear, I have about 8mm of side to side free play. It doesn't rattle back and forth or anything when driving, but just noticed that it does move side to side more than it seems it should. Could a few of you post what kind of measurements you guys get? thanks

Haven't measured - but the 8 mm you mention seems about right as I recall. On mine, most of the clearance is in cable movement or further downstream (not at the actual shifter).
