Congratulations gocards67.
Can’t wait to get it all done and tested, unfortunately the weathers turned here so back to ice cold and damp for a few months.

Got my device yesterday and went through all the steps...the file created to send back to Scott was only a little larger than 6 kB...I am thinking I did something wrong. Curious to hear from others that are doing this.

My File was small as well, and I thought that i messed something up as well. Talked to Scott about it and he said the 981 and 991 cars only create the file header so to speak and then he gets the file to be modified from Porsche. I got my modified file back last night, followed the directions carefully (the blue wire is not used!!) and in 30 minutes... all done. First gear winds out fast, but second gear is where the torque comes on, and comes on strong, earlier than before. After a brief drive, i was impressed. I did the pops and bangs and it is noticeable, but only if you are coming off the gas around 4500 rpm or higher. I was hesitant and didn't want things to seem artificially loud or too exaggerated. I think this is a good mix.
I have not driven much but my first impression was great!
Scott followed up with me as well to make sure all went OK. That was much appreciated.

Mine arrived today. Only got as far as updating the device (my only windows computer is my work computer).
Tomorrow I shall update again, just to make sure, and then plug it in and hope all goes well.
Thanks goCards67 for the quick review, I’ve been wondering about the pops. If it’s mainly at high revs and not too childish sounding then I want it.
Do we email the file to Scot along with our criteria (boxster base, 2.7, all stock no pse, 99ron petrol...).

I have a ctek 40w zafir 90 charger. Would this be ok connected to the battery for writing?

I’m starting to get excited now.

Thanks guys, hope you all enjoy.

When you download the file the to the My genius device and then send the file to Scott, I would specify that you want the pops and bangs file. He also let me know that a battery maintainer is not a charger. A 40amp charger was recommended for the flashing process.
Hope all goes well!

Thanks for the update! I liked the pops/bangs on a 718 Boxster S (standard exhaust) in sport mode. If it's anything like that I think I'd be pretty happy. I just don't want it sounding like the racecar in the video Scott posted since I do happen to live in civilization with neighbors :)

Maybe somebody with the pops/bangs might post a video?

Hello,

Keep in mind as I mentioned the car in the video has NO muffler, only headers with straight pipes basically. The pops and bangs from that would be loud along with the exhaust as a rule yet not bad in the stock cars since they have a muffler and are quieter to start with. The feature is simply added to the cars that do not come with it stock and new for the 987.2 DFI ones etc.

Just as a heads up we will be closed from Dec 7-Dec 13. and are normally closed on weekends. The files can still be read out and sent to us in this time frame.

Best,
Scott

So, I’ve thrown the map on, had a quick drive, slight difference.
Then today went for a drive, there’s certainly more torque and it’s more responsive.
The pops and bangs aren’t an issue unless you’re giving it some (due to bad weather, wet roads and traffic I can’t) looking forward to giving her a good session to see what it’s like.
Strange thing, I’ve noticed an improvement in mpg - strange, but welcomed. Maybe it’s because it’s tuned to the type of fuel you use.

I put flashed the pop/bang mapping yesterday on my 987.2 BS. I didn't have a lot of time with it, but with my standard exhaust I didn't notice much more burble and you'll get a couple louder pops letting off the gas at higher rpms--nothing to worry about driving around town.

I'll wait until I get more time with it to see if I notice any improved power across the rpm ranges, but the throttle response change is very noticeable and much better IMO (don't have sports chrono). Heel/toe is much easier to blip.

I did my flash last week and finally had some sunny weather to test it out. I am very impressed with that the software flash is able to accomplish. Very noticeable bump in torque in second and third gear. 4th now pulls smoother with more linearity. It has definitely gone a long way taking a great car and adding another level to it. As far as the exhaust, I was worried about it being loud. It really is only noticeable if you push the car hard and suddenly come off the gas. The fuel burn off is quite noticeable at high RPM (4500 and up) and virtually undetectable below 3500.

I applied the tune today and, forgive my lack of eloquence, but my car runs like a scalded dog! The power delivery is now very smooth, no more 2700-3200 rpm stumble. When leftin auto mode, the gears seem to shift at higher rpm and are very smooth as well. I rarely run in auto though, and even paddle shifting my own was very much better. Torque is much stronger and power build seems linear. Getting into the power on a road I know very well, I had to back off the throttle before the first curve, whereas I normally am accelerating through the first two curves and only come off throttle on the third.
Needless to say, I am very pleased...thanks Scott!
