Solid Savannah Entry To Launch 2013/2014 Cayman and Boxster Series That Also Visits Daytona, Sebring, Palm Beach and The Mitty

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 19, 2013) – A solid and growing field of entries for the 2013/14 Stuttgart Cup™ Winter Series, a five-race championship for Porsche Caymans and Boxsters, has been received at Historic SportsCar Racing (HSR) headquarters for next weekend’s HSR Savannah Speed Classic at Hutchinson Island, October 24 – 27.

The Savannah Speed Classic races launch a 2013/2014 Stuttgart Cup Winter Series schedule that includes stops later this year at the iconic Daytona International Speedway and Sebring International Raceway road courses.

The championship picks up again in February of 2014 with the Palm Beach Grand Prix at Palm Beach International Raceway and concludes with The 26th Annual Mitty at Road Atlanta next April 25 – 27.

In support of the new split-year championship, series organizers and Bob Woodman Tires have announced the Stuttgart Cup™ Winter Series Tire Bonus Awards that will see two sets of Pirelli P-Zero racing tires awarded to top competitors in the series.

Confirmed entries to date include Jim Gray in the green and white striped No. 80 Cayman S themed after a David Piper Racing Porsche 917, Darrell Fancher in the No. 139 “Hippy Car” Cayman S and Keith Faver in a blue and orange No. 25 Cayman S that pays tribute to the legendary Gulf Porsche 917s.

Road racing living legend Jack Baldwin, who has most recently won races and battled for the Pirelli World Challenge GTS championship the last two seasons in a Cayman, is also headed to Savannah. The Georgia-resident will drive a No. 225 Cayman themed after the Le Mans-winning Mobil 1 Porsche GT-1.

Another Cayman honoring a famous Porsche of the past is the colorful Lowenbrau/Holbert Racing No. 14 that will be wheeled by Joe Sullivan.

An all-new car will be driven by top HSR race and championship winning driver Bill Riddell who will take the first laps in the No. 05 Cayman S carrying the black paint scheme of the all-new Porsche 918 Spyder.

A sprint and endurance series, The Stuttgart Cup™ is open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters, with rules centered on power to weight ratio. All competing cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications.
