Harris,

A few questions:

- Are there any issues with CELs and the piggyback unit? More specifically, will it prevent us from passing ODBII-based motor vehicle inspections?

- I forget, is your test mule MT or PDK? Will this kit work on both?
There are no issues with CELs and the piggyback unit. It works very well and the car and all of the computers will operate like normal.

Our test mule is a 6 speed car but this system is designed to work with both the 6 speed and PDK.

hi Harris. Just a few questions. I have a 981 Cayman S with full Techart kit including lowering springs.
1. I was wondering if I would need to upgrade my brakes with the turbo kit on as I have had forged alloys built which won't allow for this?
2. Also I live in the UK. Will you be shipping these to England and are they easily fitted by a specialist here?
3. Are you any closer to a release date
4. What are your estimated prices for the different stages
thanks Mark

Hello Mark,

1. You do not need to upgrade your brakes. If this is a track car, then I would recommend doing so.
2. We ship worldwide and Parr is a dealer in the UK that has installed our turbo kits before on the 987 cars. We will have step by step instructions and send everything needed.
3. We will keep everyone updated once we are closer to a date. So far we have about 2 cars ready to come in for installation here when things calm down in the shop.
4. The pricing should be similar to what the 987 kit is.

This thread makes me so excited! I have a 2015 Boxster S PDK, located in San Francisco Bay Area.

I may get in line when you start shipping these kits!

Technical questions:

- Does redline change at all? Can it be tweaked?

- What reliability are you aiming for – and what is likely the first part to break on my engine? (ie, is the likely failure a complete engine wreck, or just gaskets?)

- I feel the OEM programs for the PDK (both sport and sport plus) are really well done. To what degree does the PDK program stay the same, or change? I don't care about fuel economy, but ergonomics.

- Are there settings that can be changed while driving, or in my garage?

1) We do not change the redline on the car. There is not a gain by doing so and we want to keep the reliability.
2) We aim for great reliability! With all of our 986, 987 and 911 turbo kits we run a conservative amount of boost and get great performance to keep the car reliable. We have seen cars go upwards of 100,000 turbo miles with no problems with the engine.
3) We will not be messing with the PDK programming. The PDK cars shift very well.
4) If you order a methanol injection kit you can adjust the level at which it comes in under load. Other than that, no adjustments needed.

Hi Harris,

I am from Abu Dhabi, UAE. I have a Cayman GTS that I got in July last year. It is a wonderful car & my DD, but now that I am part of the Porsche Club locally, I feel my track results could be better with your expected package. I think, with your package, it might beat the gt3 because of the handling benefits. I want to know who would be your affiliated person here. How much would the drag results improve? What aspect of the driveline would change? What is the maintenance like i.e. service period? Would there be any warranty provided on the install by your local affiliation?

Thanks,
timecatcher

We do not have a dealer in Abu Dhabi. If you know of a tuner in your area that has experience with turbos and Porsche cars, they should be able to do the job for you. We stand behind all of our products and will answer emails and phone calls with any questions that your installer may have. Once we do the in house installs and get the installation instructions completed, they will be provided with the kit as well.

Hi Harris,

How about Dubai? Are there any tuners that you know of there? I know of a branch of PP performance in Abu Dhabi. Is PP performance good with Porsches?

Thanks,

I am not sure of many installers in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. If you think there is a shop that would be good to go to, I would suggest contacting them and seeing if they have any experience with turbos and also Porsche cars.

Regarding PDK – it's just that I wonder if the PDK programming may *have* to be adjusted. For instance, the rev matching on shifts may be based on an internal model of the engine, rather than measurements. It may be that without modifying the PDK, every single rev-match will be off. This would of course be very difficult for you to fix, so I'm hoping the PDK is clever enough to handle an engine that is not like the standard engine.

Similarly, the "Torque Boost" aka "dumping the clutch" behavior of the PDK in Sport+ is super-fun usually. Tears the rear wheels lose going into second, and sometimes third. I wonder if the engine is significantly more powerful, this may be an undue extra burden. I'm just saying you may find some interesting things when you test the shifting behavior in detail, using both Eco and Sport+ modes.

Again I'm so excited for this:) Dying to read more.

Harris,

Can I ask what kind of 0-60 times you're getting with 436 RWHP? That's gotta be kinda insane on a 3100 lb car, since stock 981 S's get 4.1-4.2 seconds at 9.8 lb/hp. 437 RWHP is about 539 at the crank, for 5.7 lb/hp... that's amazing, better than both the 911 Turbo with 520 hp to 3516 lbs (6.8 lb/hp) which does 3.0-3.2 sec and even the Turbo S (6.3 lb/hp) which does 2.6 sec.

I'll be happy with anything under 3.5, but of course I'm hoping for about 3 flat or under 3 like the 911 Turbo or Turbo S. :) With the mid-engine handling, a Boxster S with your kit should be a better overall performer than the 911 Turbo S.

981 Turbo vs 911 Turbo will be a super-interesting comparison. But the 911 has a few things to its name as well… like 4 wheel drive and active chassis. So for race performance, we'll have to see empirically.

And I'm dying to badge my car "Boxster Turbo" on the rear deck!

Your problem will be with traction, a lot of hp doesn't mean great 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Check the 911 turbo times with the C7 Z06, the corvette has more hp and is lighter yet, the 911 turbo post better times due to launch control, PDK, and AWD.

We have not done a 0-60 time yet or a 1/4 mile. We hope to do a data run soon to show some of this information.

I was shopping your Plenum upgrade until I found this thread. Being local to the area I'm now considering this upgrade. You said you have 5 cars already for the local shop upgrade, will you be accepting more after these 5 are done? Please PM the full price including installation time when it's available.

We will definitely be taking more cars for in house installations! We do tons of in house installs here at TPC Racing and also a lot mail order as well. I will send you a PM with price info.

Gents,
Reading thread and wondering,
1. Have any of the 5 original vehicles been completed and how do they like the change?
2. How has or does this effect the warranty?
3. Can I also be PM'd to get quote for kit?

2014 Cayman S, PDK, 82mm TB and Plenum.

thanks, Randy
