March 10th 2011, I, Regan Steedman anxiously waited at a hotel in Pahrump Nevada for my father Jim Steedman and team member Eric Oviatt to show up with my newly finished Porsche Boxster. Hour after hour went by and still no sign of them. Finally, around 11 p.m. I got a phone call from my dad, “Sorry babe, it looks like we will be leaving the shop in Lake Forest around 1:30 a.m. We are still putting the final touches on your car. Why don’t you go to sleep and meet us at the track tomorrow morning?” Okay, no problem right? WRONG! How do you expect me to sleep when all I want to do is see the finished product in person? After a few hours of lying in bed I realized I must have fallen asleep because at 5 a.m. a phone call from my dad awoke me. He and Eric had just pulled up to the racetrack. They, as well as the rest of the Hergesheimer team, pulled an all nighter making sure that every screw was tightened, every piece was in place and that my car shined from the inside out.

Incredible. Never had I seen a car so beautiful in my life. Each aspect of the vehicle was mesmerizing. The images that had been floating around the Internet of this build did not do the car justice. It is impeccably made and the attention to detail is something that I’ve never seen on any other car. The color is unreal. Eric and I spent a month looking at color charts trying to find the best color and the right shop to take on the challenge of the “Pink Glitter Boxster.” Fabricante Auto Body not only took on the challenge, but exceeded expectations. The car was completely stripped down and every inch painted in the unique color.

Being only 5’1 (Eric swears I’m not even 5’0) I needed the car to be custom fit to me. The floorboards and pedal extenders were made to my small size 6 feet, but instead of just placing them on the floor they are bolted in. That way it has a clean look and feel to it as well as the capability to be removed easily. The Hergesheimer team took that into consideration while also making sure they gave the option for a “normal sized” person to be able to get into it and drive it as well. I had also requested that my shifter was on a riser. Eric not only created a riser for the car, but also put it at an angle. It took a session to get used to, but once I started spending more time driving I realized the advantage I had. It allows for a quick shift back to the steering wheel.

I’m sure all of you reading this have followed the incredible build of “The PINK BSR” on the forums by Eric Oviatt. Now that the car is finished, the question is how does it drive? My first day out in the BSR classed Boxster did not disappoint. The car was set up perfectly. It was well balanced, didn’t push in the turns, and was predictable. It wasn’t as twitchy as other cars that I have driven and most importantly I felt comfortable in it. This car had a few different features than my last year’s car. One of the major differences I noticed right away was the brake pads. We decided to use a more aggressive brake pad option than I had in the past.

My first Porsche Owners Club race weekend in the car was a success. Saturday’s race I had a less than perfect qualifying session and ran 3 seconds slower than I had throughout the day. I started 7th, but finished the race 4th. HRGruppe driver and teammate, Eric qualified 3rd. Unfortunately for Eric, he blew his transmission while leading the race and finished 5th (amazing to finish 5th without 3rd gear on a track that is primarily run in 3rd gear). Sunday’s race definitely was filled with excitement. I had qualified 3rd and had a great start. As I entered the second turn of the second lap all of a sudden I went sliding and spinning into the dirt. I had hit some coolant in the middle of the track. During that spin I had to wait to get back on track and dropped down into 10th place. I steadily improved my positions throughout the race and finished 7th in BSR. A little disappointed in the finish but what can you do? It’s all part of racing.

Now I am ready to see what type of damage the HRGruppe team can do! With two awesome cars, two competitive drivers and the support of family and friends we know we can work our way to the top. We will be taking our cars out to the Porsche Owners Club Triple Crown event on April 30th and May 1st at Willow Springs. If you are in town stop by and say hi! Its great to see a young lady involved in racing. I bet you have to listen to a lot of **** from guys in school/work, that do not know how to heel and toe or drive half as good as you.

Thanks for sharing.

Congratulation! Best of Luck!

Thank you guys for all of the kind words!
I am really thankful for the opportunity that the Hergesheimer team (especially our crew chief, the boss, Mark Hergesheimer) has given me. Right now I am living my dream and it can only go up from here!

If any of you guys are at The Long Beach Grand Prix I will be there with my car supporting the Porsche Owners Club at their booth.

Hey you guys, I am racing at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana this weekend for the Porsche Owners Club's Tribute to Le Mans! There is a 4-hour race on Saturday that I will be running with Eric Oviatt and Shahin Mobine. The race starts at 3:30. If you are in the Southern California area stop by and enjoy a day at the track. I will be at the HRGruppe pit all weekend. It is free and you will have access to all of the pits! Please come, it will be a good time... promise! =) If you want more information about the races check out our website at HRG or our facebook page at HRGruppe - Professional Sports Team - Lake Forest, California | Facebook.
