The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo Series Return To Where It Began This Weekend at The Mitty

Porsche Cayman, Boxster and GT3 Series First Raced Together Last Year in the Classic Motorsports Mitty Presented by Hagerty at Road Atlanta

BRASELTON, Georgia (April 22, 2015) – The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 Cup Trophy USA by Car Amigo racing series will return to where it all began exactly one year ago this weekend at Road Atlanta as one of the featured run groups in the Historic SportsCar Racing (HSR) 38th Anniversary Classic Motorsports Mitty presented by Hagerty, April 23 – 26.

Launching a new and cooperative relationship under the direction and management of Americas GT Cup LLC, The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 series first raced together at last year’s Mitty. The two series return this year with even more entries and a pair of championship battles that are already off to a great start.

After a Thursday test day and practice and qualifying sessions on Friday, racing begins Saturday with the first of the weekend’s two sprints. Sunday’s highlight is the one-hour B.R.M. Enduro Challenge at 12:30 p.m. that will be followed by the weekend-ending sprint later that afternoon.

While the 2014 edition of The Mitty marked the beginning of last year’s championship season, this year’s race is Round 4 on the 2014 Stuttgart Cup/Mission Foods GT3 schedule, following a trio of Florida races that opened the year in Palm Beach, Sebring and Homestead-Miami.

On the Stuttgart Cup front, 2015 Cayman class race winners Dominique LeQueux, Bill Riddell, Rick Stavola and Ed Lane are all headed to Road Atlanta this weekend in search of more victories.

LeQueux, who races a red and yellow MOMO-themed No. 30 Cayman S prepared by Atlanta-based Goldcrest Motorsports, has scored at least one race victory, all sprints, in each of the year’s opening events, including two wins to start the season at Palm Beach.

Riddell, the two-time and reigning Stuttgart Cup Champion, is another multiple 2015 race winner looking for more at The Mitty. Driving a flat-black and white-striped No. 05 Cayman S prepared by his own Racelink team and modeled after the prototype Porsche 918 race car, Riddell scored his first enduro win of the season one race ago at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The victory was Riddell’s second win of the year after also capturing a Sebring sprint race.

Stavola won the Palm Beach enduro and is primed for more success at Road Atlanta in his No. 22 Bodymotion Cayman S prepared by Racelink.

Lane, who returned to Cayman competition at Homestead-Miami for the first time in several seasons, promptly stepped up and won a 25-lap sprint. The victory came in Lane’s debut Stuttgart Cup weekend and in his first time out in his recently purchased blue and white No. 14 Cayman S, which is modeled after the famous Lowenbrau/Al Holbert Racing Porsche 962s. Lane’s Cayman S is prepared and fielded by the 901 Shop.

Mission Foods GT3 Cup has also seen multiple race winners so far this season, including Mitty competitors Juan Lopez-Santini and Jeffrey Freeman.

Lopez-Santini turned in a triple win sweep at Homestead-Miami in his 3.8-liter class No. 810 Porsche GT3 Cup, which is prepared by the 901 Shop. He finished second overall in all three Homestead-Miami races and also won the overall GT3 division pole position in qualifying.

Not to be left out, Freeman swept both Sebring races in his 3.8-liter No. 16 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. He makes his second race event start of the season at The Mitty.

Familiar competitors making their Stuttgart Cup or Mission Foods GT3 Cup debuts this season include Mike Cassling in his No. 2 Cayman S and his brother, Randy Cassling, who co-drives his 3.6-liter No. 17 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup with Christian Coggins. Both Porsches are prepared by Classic Auto Restoration Services (CARS).

Former Stuttgart Cup race winner Keith Faver also returns to the series for the first time since last October’s race in Savannah in his No. 25 Cayman S that carries the popular livery of the Gulf/Wyer Porsche 917s.

Juan Gonzalez and his son, Juan Gonzalez Jr., also make their 2015 Mission Foods GT3 Cup debuts at The Mitty. Gonzalez Sr. is entered in his 3.8-liter No. 81 Porsche 997 RSR while Gonzalez Jr. is listed on both the 4-liter No. 61 Porsche 997 RSR and the 3.8-liter No. 80 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup.

The winning family duo of Paul Reisman and his son, John Reisman, have entries in both The Stuttgart Cup™ and Mission Foods GT3 at The Mitty. Both are listed as drivers in their No. 70 Boxster in The Stuttgart Cup™ and 3.6-liter No. 71 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup in Mission Foods GT3.

Wayne Wilkerson also returns this weekend in Mission Foods GT3 in his 3.6-liter No. 901 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup.
