I have 140k on my 07 cayman S. I daily drive mine and still love every minute of it. I do my own oil changes at 5k with joe gibbs oil. I do most of my own maintenance. I’ve done brakes, plugs and coils, AOS, headers, power steering pulley and belt, cold air filter, 3rd radiator and other misc stuff. If I don’t feel like it I have a good honest independent Porsche specialist.
Mods include: LN engineering oil filter, EPL headers, “RS 370 kit”, tune and cold air, R suspension, 3rd radiator, numeric short shifter and cable.
I have a lower thermostat and water pump waiting but I’m still on the same pump! I have gone through 2 AOS, passenger window switch and engine mounts. I upgraded all mounts to semi solid and haven’t looked back. Car runs amazing. More reliable then my 2012 Escalade. I bought the cayman with 50k miles on it. Buy the car and drive the piss out of it. The maintenance is no more than a bmw.
Joe Gibbs oil is THE best shtuff... and the 3rd radiator big plus... those two items alone reduce temps/friction... noticeable too

I bought an 06 Cayman S 8 years ago with 50k on the odometer and have put 27k on it since. I did not do a PPI - I flew to Phoenix, hopped in the car an drove it back to the east coast with no issues. Since the car has the M97 motor I don't worry about the IMS. I do my own maintenance and over the years outside of normal maintenance items (plugs, belts, oil, filters) I've replaced the water pump, a tie rod, the headliner, brakes, both radiator caps, a broken seat belt, a broken driver side door handle, frunk support shocks, a passenger side window motor, door latch sensors, a blown speaker and the battery. At some point in the next few years I'm going to spring for a new front end suspension. Not quite as reliable as the Toyota 4runner I had for 18 years but much, much more fun.

Coming late to this thread but just to add another data point, have a 2008 CS bought new and have had zero, none nada issues. I do not consider a battery after 7 years an issue. The 987.1 is a reliable car.

I have an 08 987.1 Cayman S
I bought it with 31k and am at 35 k 4 months later. No significant issues. I had an 03 Boxster S and loved it as well. Drove it 4 years and 30k miles. Get a solid low miles car and treat it like it should be treated. PPI is a great policy.

+1 for the 987.2 recommendation. Mine (2.9L PDK) has been rock solid since I bought it a year ago with no maintenance issues whatsoever. And I always drive it like I stole it ;)
