So, it looks like the best thing to do on a 981 BS is to buy wheels the size of the winter wheels if I want to put better tires on the car.

However, I'm having a really hard time finding tires that aren't standard Max Performance summer tires for wheels of this size.

I'm planning on getting these wheels:

Does anyone know of any really great tires that would fit these that won't decrease or increase the radius?
I would want 235/45/18 in the front, and 265/45/18 in the rear to maintain factory spec.

For track tires most of the guys and me running smaller diameters such as
235/40/18 - 265/40/18 or
245/40/18 - 275/40/18 or
2XX/40/18 - 2XX/40/18

For track, been running Toyo R888's. On my second set. Very satisfied with performance and wear characteristics.
Tire Size Front 245/40/18 - Rear 275/40/18
Wheel size Front OZ Alleg HLT 18x8 Wheel size Rear 18x9. Would recommended going wider on the rear wheels. As this set up is basically maxed out.

For track wheels you better read on here or google if you want to use VE wheels.

OK, if not VE, who would you recommend in a decent price range?

There are several threads with several brand recommendations. The definition of "decent price range" differs from person to person and whether or not its their own money that is being spent.
