Think i lose out the most here. I have a new 2.7 cayman with lots of extras. Insurance is the only reason I do not have a year old 3.4 or an 04/05 carrera.

I'm 23
9 points (3 for speeding, 6 for driving on my mobile -twice)
1 crash my fault - £17,000 claim
1 crash not my fault - £5,000 claim
No no-claims bonus
Live in a city center.
Cayman has VTS enabled
Run through my company
cost just over £44,000
25,000 miles p/a

Current insurance premium £5,800. :(

Most insurers will not quote me or they want over £6,000. I spent 2 entire days ringing around and getting laughed at.

I can not get insurance on a 3.4 for less than £10,000 and am practically unable get insurance on a carrera (somone quoted me somthing like £19,000).

Re: Insurance quotes

Hi, I wanted to thank you guys for saving me money on insurance!! My car is a 2007 Basalt Black Cayman 2.7 and I am an 'Oldgit' (age 56) and paid £475 last year. My policy expires on March 1st and my renewal was £485 so I checked on the forum to see what everyone else was paying........and so checked out Saga which was brilliant. I have now renewed my insurance for an astonishing £319.35. This includes my wife and is fully comp with only a £200 excess. By taking out the policy 'online' this price included a 20% reduction so my advice to any Porsche drivers over the age of 50 is to try Saga for a quote.

I'm 33 years old, live in Hertfordshire, car garaged each night and not my only car. No accidents or claims in the last five years but as I have my ncb on the other car nothing available for this car.

Tried to insure it as a second car with Privilege but as I had 0 ncb for this car they couldn't help. Admiral offered me a premium of £376 for full comprehensive and a £500 excess.

Key details:

Location: Herfordshire
NCB: 0 years
Accidents: None in 5+ years
Convinctions: None in 5+ years
Vehicle: Social, Commuting and Business Use
Mileage: Estimated at 8000 per year
Age: 33 male
Overnight: Garaged

Hope this helps.

I wanted to say thanks for this post - after a few strange quotes I called up Porsche Insurance Services and got a quote for just over £800.
Im 42 with 4 years NCD 6 points (2004 and 2008) and last year had a prang!
Living in south warks - car garaged.

Porsche Insurance Services also provide two days track day cover so I will be looking forward to a couple of run outs!

Cheers

The big problem with Admiral (and there other brands - Elephant, Diamond) is that they don't recognize factory options as standard. When I listed the PASM, SC, PSE and rear wiper!! they doubled my premium......

Not sure how this would play out in event of claim but thought you might not know. It's a shame as they have always been the cheapest for me and I was with them for 10 years up until my Porsche :(
