Porsche.jpg 2011 Metallic silver S PDK chrono PSM , "delete pkg" Nav 31,123 miles ..all my wanted options,

My first Porsche at 67 birthday. Probably paid too much but just kept coming back to this one..FL car in absolutely showroom condition. Bought it from Millenia Motors in Longwood Fl, Dealt with Oliver Loor a no nonsense great guy..check out his website for great cars.. Started negotiating 8 weeks ago, he gave me his lowest acceptable at first counter and in 8 weeks I got him down $250 , my biggest concern is the warranty ran out in Jan this year, and Not a CPO. ...saw several a few thousand cheaper but not with all I wanted..Finally the wife just said "get off the computer and go buy it!" She was tired of my "sheet metal porno" addiction..:) My first car was a 6 month old 66 Chevy II 327/350 HP...I then joined the Navy got married and had kids...had "responsible" vehicles ...put kids through collage , put family first and lived as a resp adult for the next 45 years, retired from the US Submarine service and just retired as GM of a large company here in Charleston last month..Took the train down Friday and drove it home Saturday, I still cant get the smile off my face.

I must share a personal story with you, many of you will probably rebuke me for being irresponsible and careless and you would be justified ..When I got back home I had to go show it to all my buddies and let them "feel the magic: as I had,,many of them like me were throw backs from the muscle car days of the sixties..that had thought the best cars were gone...None( like myself) had never driven a Porsche. I have one of my best friends with ALS (5th year) I drove up in his yard and he came out ..and had to set in it..ALS starts at the top or bottom..his started at the top and at this time he really cant hold a fork.. as he set in the seat and after much time got his hands on the wheel his fingers locked on..I said lets take her for a spin..he started to get out and I said "no u drive" He grinned...and went went,,he does live in a remote area and we found a few miles of deserted hwy rolled to a stop and I Put it in "Plus" told him to "put in on the floor and dont let up until you are ready"..He let off at 128 mph. Yes , I knew the risk and so did he..We have no right to endanger others, but the feeling I had watching him "live" what may be that last good ride was worth it when the only lives were ours.,,,dont be too hard on me. All three of them told me they had never experienced anything like that first ride at speed in a Porsche.....WoW !

Congratulations but let me be the first to say your search hasn't ended...it just started!!!! Some mods will follow, then some more mods, then in about three years you'll be on the computer again...looking to trade up for a 981 platform. Trust me ..I know...Bought a beautiful '06 CS in '08..traded that for a beautiful '09 CS in '11 and now, I am on the computer everyday looking for that perfect 981.

Like I said....welcome to the insanity!!!! You are going to love it.

Great looking car and smart choice on the color! ;-)

Let me be the first to say "Good luck cleaning those wheels!" My first Cayman had the sport classics and good lord are they a pain to wash. Look great though!

RE: warranty, you can always get an aftermarket warranty if you want, but in my opinion, it's not needed. 987.2 cars are really solid. Mine, which is also PDK, has been bulletproof. By model year 2011, I'm sure they had every little gremlin worked out of the cayman so short of a completely struck by lightning case of bad luck, I'd keep the money in my pocket an enjoy the car. (to each their own though)

WELCOME and congrats on your car. It looks like my first Cayman including the same wheels. I loved those wheels.

Now about that 128 thing. Normally I'd be thinking  and be doing the rebuking and lecturing about excessive speed on public highways but this time :drivingskid::D

Excellent story. I enjoyed it and am glad you have your car and can share it with your buddies. Be safe and now take it to a track, Join PCA and find out their events.

Oh, and one more thing, you know its always a good thing to listen to the better half :)

Those guys were the ones that bought my Cayman S, they had it 3 months and sold it last week. I was wondering if it was you...it wasn't. Congrats on your purchase.
