It has come to my attention that some other forums keeps a place for members to track cars that have been sold as salvage or flood damaged, etc. What is typically done is if a member finds a car on Ebay or some auction site, or wherever they gather the information about the car and post it here including the VIN#, link to where it was being sold, price, pics, etc. This way, over time, a library of salvaged Porsches build up so that if a future would-be buyer comes across the same car again they can find out that it was once a salvaged car, or flood damaged, etc. because the info on the car will be posted here and searchable.

Thanks to eteled for the suggestion.

Thanks K-Man S,

I've seen this type of forum be very successful provided that when possible, the owner/driver of the car in question posts information about the car. Over time it should help people looking at a car with a 'story'. All too often cars with branded titles come up for sale with some comment from the seller that there was only minor or superficial damage and was salvaged by the insurance company because it was easier... it should also help those looking at buying a project/track car from Copart or the like.

That means this isn't a place to denigrate others because their dream cars were crashed and insurance totaled them.

It is a place for the free and honest sharing of information. But it will only be as good as we make it.
