In reading the maintenance manual for my new '06 Cayman S I see that at some point the batteries in the tire pressure monitoring system are to be checked, and I suppose replaced if the voltage is below a certain level. Where are these batteries located, and what voltage is required?

The transmitter battery is located inside the electronic module which is located inside the wheel attached to the end of the tire valve. It does not appear to have a replaceable battery.

Special lithium batteries are used to power the tire electronics. Combined with the energy-optimised sensor electronics, they allow a service life of up to ten years so it is unlikely to be a problem just yet.
