I can't seem to find anything for the 987.2 on here. Does anyone know if they're the same fog lights?

 

I think the key difference is that the Gen 2 use LED lighting (white), while the Gen 1 uses conventional halogen lighting (yellow).

I'm thinking about the same upgrade now. There are aftermarket LED replacement bulbs available with an H8 base. If you want it for more than just looks, pay close attention to the quality and light output of the LEDs you're considering. I've narrowed the results from my investigation down to either the following Cree or Samsung bulbs. Relatively speaking, they're expensive, but you get what you pay for.

The Samsung seems to be a superior design, from a standpoint of both light output and lower generated heat. I'm still doing my due diligence, so if anyone has other recommendations, please let us know!

The LED lights are the DRLs on BIX equipped cars. They have no separate front fog lamps like the non-BIX cars.

 

Do you need Canbus LEDs so you don't get error codes?

Still a bit confused.

My 987.2 Cayman does not have the bi-xenon package. Thus, the fog lights are yellow - not led like a car equipped with bi xenon.

I simply want to change the bulbs to white bulbs rather than my ugly, old looking yellow ones. But, all the bulbs I can seem to find are for the gen 1.

I want to make sure I buy the correct product.. friend of mine installed the wrong bulbs on his car and started a fire... haha.

If anyone knows where to get white foglight bulbs for the gen2 cayman let me know!

I switched out the stock bulbs on my 987.1 (not sure if they are the same on yours) with these and am very happy.

Someone with a 987.2 here has to have changed the bulbs!

 

Friend changed the foglights on his 06CS, which lists the same lamp (H11) as for yours, and he was very happy with them. He got his from the link above.

 

Does he know which ones specifically?

FWIW, on my prior 987.1 CS I had changed my oem yellowish, dim 55W H11 fog light bulbs for brighter, whiter 65W H9 bulbs which fit perfectly. I used them for several years until I removed them when I sold the car. There was a very noticeable improvement in light output.

 

Problem is a lot of those LED lights are 6000K, while your OEM Xenon lights are only 4300K or something in color temp ...
