Re: The Worst Review of any Porsche I've read

It will never be sold for 30K, what it is worth, and it is a purposely degraded product so it will not compete with a 911. Why would anybody want to buy this car ?, is beyond my comprehension.

Cheers
I so wish it was only worth 30k, would save me some money honestly.

Re: The Worst Review of any Porsche I've read

Wow did this thread get grumpy. :D
Hmm, kinda... it's not this thread, it's the overall feeling of the 718 section.
But at least theres new content/information on what/why the 718 shall not be liked! Every article that doesn't like it is the correct information, everyone else was bought by Porsche. Possible new owners are just either Chinese, have no clue the value of the money or/and only want the car by its badge, aren't really buying a porsche but an overpriced thing with a known empty badge.

Re: The Worst Review of any Porsche I've read

Im going to take issue with the 718 brakes being improved over the 981. In the online Porsche 718 catalog it says the brakes on the S are 330 and 299 mm dia. Same as the 981S. The 718's weight increased by about 100 lbs, so to my way of thinking, the brakes are worse.

Incontrast, the 991.2S brakes have been much improved. The new ones are 350 mm all around with aluminum top hats, versus the 340 and 330 mm 991.1S rotors with cast iron top hats that rust. That's what I call improved brakes.

What about the 718 brakes has been improved?
Well maybe the improvements are on the 718 Base got the brakes from the 981 S, so thats an upgrade to the base, but as the bhp, 0-60, etc, was raised its probably in proportion to the needs. Marginal improvement ? :)

Re: The Worst Review of any Porsche I've read

I don't see any brake upgrades here in Porsche's 718 tech specs, Except a minor upgrade in the base 718 front brake spec that is neutralized or overshadowed by increased Hp and weight... The 981 brakes were already undersized - it is common to see 981 and 981S brake calipers turned a brownish red from overheating. The 718s has the same small brakes as the 981S, but with more Hp and more weight. Not good!
What am I not understanding about the improved 718 brakes specs??
Ok I take back the marginal improvement :D
