Porsche Cayman Service in Greenville, SC area

We are moving to the Greenville area in the spring or early summer.

Asking for recommendations for independent service shops, and also thoughts on the local Porsche dealer service/sales as well.

I did spend some time at Clemson in my youth where I enjoyed many miles in the hills and mountains on my Suzuki bike, so I am happy to be moving where the roads more suit my car. Any special roads you like would be appreciated as well, I expect to be exploring them right away. Oh, any small town revenue collection traps would be useful too. I don't want to ruin a spirited driving day. Only problem I had was coming into Anderson from the east where the speed limit signs dropped precipitously and I got nailed for doing 55 in a 35 (or something like that).

IDK about local shops or roads but you will be within 100 miles of Road Atlanta where CHIN Trackdays has a DE event just about every month.

    Nice!

I'll be right a little over 150 miles but doable. I do plan to visit PEC at some point too.

Better watch SC cops, for sure. They are the most predatory of any I have encountered. If you don't find a good local indie, there is a great one in Athens, GA, about 90 minutes away.

Yeah, I am a bit paranoid about the small town cops, based on experiences in my youth. I really like traveling the back roads but don't care for the revenue collectors lurking about looking for a handout. I do plan to at least get a RD before doing that more upstate. Really hate feeling like such a target in the car.

I go to the Buford area on occasion, so in the area. I did read some good reviews on the local dealer, so it may be worth a visit.

I visited https://protechmotorsports.com/ which had good reviews and about the same distance as the local Porsche dealer. Anyone been there? Have an oil change coming up so will likely give them a try.

I'm in the Greenville area also, but just bought my first CPO Porsche in December, so I have a little while to go before it's ready for its next service. I'd love to hear your review of Protech if you end up going that route.

Sure thing. I've got to go maybe before the end of the month.

My experience with indy and the dealer in Charleston were good, although the indy tech did not replace the crush washer which caused a leak, but they apologized and took care of it right away. Whereas dealer service is almost always more expensive, I felt extremely confident they could handle any issue with the car.

Re: Porsche Cayman Service in Greenville, SC area

I talked to the service adviser at Porsche Greenville before I bought it. Being my first Porsche (coming from 15+ years in a ridiculously reliable Honda S2000) I was a little concerned about maintenance costs. He is a very wired dude. He seems decent and knowledgeable, but don't go in there unless you have an hour to kill, because he'll talk your ear off. Anyway, I think I'd have confidence going there if needed, and I bought the car based on the costs that he shared with me. But, if there's a reputable family owned place, I'd much rather go there to save a few pennies and establish a relationship with someone I trust. Good luck!

By the way, you don't need a new set of 19" tires do you? I pulled the Pirelli's that came off of the car with just ~2,000 miles on them. I need to find someone (preferably local) who wants them. 265/40 and 235/40 P ZERO (PZ4) tires.

Re: Porsche Cayman Service in Greenville, SC area

I was very impressed with the service department at Baker Porsche. We moved about the time they opened the Porsche specific sales and service operation. They even fixed my front spoiler that was loose from a couple of low curb and parking stop scrapes. The reviews of Protech are good, so likely the place I will try first.

Sorry, I just got new tires last fall, although this fall I may be in the market for a set of all-seasons and wheels. We had no plans to move when I bought the car, but here there is more than enough cold weather to keep the summers in the garage. I think driving in the mountains off-season will be even better with less traffic.
