Re: Looking to buy a Boxster S - where can I drive one?
I bought the Boxster S you're looking for two years ago! Individual sale from a guy in Estill Springs. I flew to Nashville and drove it back to Dallas.
I test drove both the base (Cayman and Boxster, manual and PDK) and the Boxster S w/PDK & Sport Chrono at a few dealerships here in Dallas before I bought mine. The base really felt sluggish and uninspiring to me. You had to really wind it out to get it to move. Sadly, it felt a little too much like the Mazda 6 I was driving at the time. The PDK didn't do much for me either in the base model.
The Boxster S feels like a completely different car. It has plenty of go under the pedal. One test drive in a Boxster S, and I fell in love with it immediately, then just had to find the right combination of options. I went into my search with sights on a manual, but after driving a BS PDK w/Sport Chrono package, and knowing it was going to be a DD and I wanted to track the car, that became the new target.
Two years later, I'm absolutely thrilled with the purchase. Good luck.
