Looking for a new steering wheel for my manual Cayman 981.
Lots to see on the internet but what about the quality and in particular the airbag, leather & Porsche emblem?

Any advice and your experience with aftermarket steering wheels more than welcome.

The current steering wheel is the standard Sport type.
I am attaching the desired steering wheel in this post (I need the manual version).
Also see that there are different color variations, this looks more like gray than black?

It seems like there are a lot of Rennmeister steering wheels attached to 981s and 991s so I suspect the quality is satisfactory. A huge advantage with them is the ability to customize your look for far less than trying to do the same using all OE parts.

I decided to stick with original and should have a used GT wheel arriving this weekend. A new airbag is going to cost me more than the wheel but I've already resolved to go that route.

I suspect a lot of the decision is just personal preference on OE versus lookalike. Enjoy the research and the hunt for your perfect look.

I have to thank Shawn (ELCID86) for his feeds on Steering Wheel sale from FB, Miggman, & Ebay during my hunt process which took me a year searching until I found a 2016 Macan in a local salvage yard. I hope my Thinkdiag can activate the MF buttons.

Made a comment on this thread here, swapped my wheel about 2 months ago from Rennmeister LLC – Your Porsche Parts Expert - was super easy install process and have had zero issues, highly recommend!

Currently negotiating with Donald from Porsche Spare Parts for my desired steering wheel. Very good communication and follow-up, now to wait for the handling, shipping, receipt and then the switch on my Cayman! 🤞🤞🤞

Almost unbelievable when I look at their FB page and the posts listed with comments.
As soon as i was asked to send Apple Gift Cards by email I hit the brakes.
Also, the payments were stopped by my bank and informed me that they are reported as scam - fraudsters, so correct what you write here, thanks for the timely additional tip!
Surely this is something that concerns everyone here I think. âť—âť—âť—

All of the posts are from fake profiles.

As a word of caution, when you're buying something off of the Internet, INSIST on a picture of the actual item with the seller's name and today's date hand written on a piece of paper next to it.

Also, ONLY pay with PayPal Goods and Services. PayPal is terrific at catching scammers and refunding money if you get got. However, you only get this protection with Goods and Services, and never ever Friends and Family.

Just remember, you don't know these people. They aren't your friends, and they sure aren't your family, so why would you give them that luxury?

I went different way... I send my original sport design steering wheel for a complete redo by a steering wheel shop in Europe.
It is absolutely amazing. It's completely custom. Any design, any materials, any color. The quality is way higher than anything stock I've seen in any luxury cars. Check out their Instagram for the ideas https://www.instagram.com/grigul_design/
