Cost of tracking a Cayman

Brakes and rotors $1000 per year. Tires another $1500. Hotels for 5 weekends $1500. Misc other $1500. Round to about $6000 annually. About $600 per track day not including depreciation of the car which isn’t too bad with Porsche because they are awesome cars.

You can easily spend more or less. But what a blast. People spend this kind of money on a cruise and just spend all day eating.

How many of you get track insurance for HPDE? I‘m looking at starting HPDE next season. From my research I got the impression that track insurance is more worthwhile as you get to the more advanced rungs of DE. At the beginner level you are generally going slower, driving with an instructor and not having as much close driving with other cars.

Is this an accurate assessment or does the inexperience outweigh those other factors? Are their generally fewer incidents in the beginner groups?
