My 2013 Boxster S has the same massage. The 40K mile service is due soon so hopefully they can address the issue while performing the service.

I just received this message when i started my car in the morning. I brought it to auto gallery in woodland hills for maintenance and hopefully for this to be fixed. I have the same problem with my volkswagen.

This popped up again for me a couple of days ago (it last happened in August 2014).

UGH got the Fault message last night and also a PSM failure message and also stop/start fault message. First real issue with my 981S. It's also been telling me for weeks that my side marker light is out yet it is not out.

I got a PSM failure message as well, a few months after the evap sensor fix.

Turning the car off and on again made the warning go away. Not sure what would have caused that!

Anyway, I validated that PSM was still fully operational later the same day on the Star Mazda turn at Buttonwillow.

I predict that you'll find that an ignition coil is failing.

Just wanted to let evryone know my experience with this fault message over the weekend.

I drive a '14 CS with 9,000 miles (2nd owner)

The message I recieved was "Fault engine control system, ok to drive on" which occured early on Saturday morning.
I called a Porsche service advisor & they said it was fine to drive the car. I then drove the car (the same day) on a PCA tour for approximately 200 miles without any issues or degregation in performance.

Took the car into the dealer the next Monday & they scanned the system, cleared the code & performed (2) updates.
update (1) - WF86 DME (firmare) update
update (2) - WF96 Replaced NVLD valve and filter
- part #000-043-210-34 PRESSURE SWITC
- part #000-043-210-07 FILTER
I believe update (2) has something to do with the fuel/emmisions system, but both updates were necessary to remedy the problem. Anyways, I received the car back & all is well.

The fix was very quick & easy fix according to the tech.

Sounds like my experience. Service writer said that factory used grease somewhere in the evaporative emissions system, and the grease screws up the sensor. So dealer replaced pump, sensor, and filter on warranty.

Hi everyone, yesterday I just had the "PSM and auto-start stop function fault" after I had this message I turn off the engine and start over, but this time I got the "Fault engine control system, ok to drive on". I drove the car a few km more and turn off, lock the door, waited 5 min and start the engine again the fault was gone.

But in any case I will go to the service (to my private service not authorized service cause I think private services are more knowledgeable), to connect the computer. I will update.

Buy the way, at least you can see, not only us cars have the problem :) (I live in Turkey, I got the car from Germany)

since my previous write I took the car to the service, the computer showed "2nd cylinder ignition coil fault". we changed the part, $50 dolar and just took 20 min to replaced it. I have been driving the car nearly 150km, so far so good.
