How do you remove the engine compartment blower fans ?

Having problems removing the left hand side engine bay blower(purge) fan. I removed the undertray and replaced the right side fan in about 5 minutes, but there's a lot less room on the left side with all sorts of pipes etc. in the way. I can get my hand up to the fan, unplug it and remove it from it's mounts but there's not enough room to get it out the bottom of the car. The workshop manual says to unclip one of the fuel hoses which I have tried but there's still not enough room. Am I doing anything wrong? has anyone managed this from underneath the car?

This is what the manual says:

And this is what it looks like in reality:
The fuel line bracket unclipped

And this is the fan removed from it's mounts and as far as it will come out before being stopped by the manifold and various wires/pipes

I know you've been trying to follow the manual and get this out from the bottom, but I was able to get this out through the top of the engine bay. There is a coolant return line that pivots in its fitting (to the coolant reservoir) which may move enough for you to get your arm in (don't force the coolant line too much or it could break).

Even then, it was a very tight squeeze. If you try it this way, make sure to tape up the edges of the sheet metal around the edge of the opening to the engine bay to avoid cutting up your arms too much.

Optionally, if you've got one of those bungee cords with a hook on the end of it, or maybe a coat hanger, you might be able to hook it with that from the top instead.

Thanks, interesting that you managed to get it out from the top. Perhaps if I disconnect it from the bottom and then pull it out from the top that might work. Trouble is it means I have to pull apart half the interior again to get the top engine cover off on the Cayman :(
