Hello all,

Long time member first time owner here! Last September I sold my beloved 944 track car and I've been on the hunt for a replacement, I thought I was priced out of these cars until I stumbled on this car that fit my budget. It spend most of it's life in Saskatchewan where it racked up a lot of the miles. The previous owner took really good care of it but the PPI showed some overrevs in the DME report. I had a compression test and leakdown test (and a bore scope while they were in there) at a respected shop locally and all the numbers were perfect. I'm not too concerned about this as I just want to drive this car and enjoy it. It came with some nice track focused upgrades too, here's the abbreviated spec list:

2009 Cayman S 6 speed
Soul valved exhaust
KW v3 suspension
19" Apex SM10 wheels
Hawk DTC60 pads
Numeric shifter cables

I must say coming from an NA 944 this car RIPS! It sounds great and handles really well. I got quite comfortable with this car rather quickly which I attribute more to the platform than my ability.

Plans for this car over the winter are:
  • Get 18" track wheels/tires (the 19" are sold already),
  • Front GT3 style control arms,
  • Rear toe arms,
  • Track alignment,
  • Paint correction and ceramic coat,
  • Replace drive belt/tensioner/pulley.

Try CLR. Let it soak some then rinse it since it is somewhat acidic.
Just a followup here... i ended up using plain old dish soap and warm water. Took the dried coolant right off. I was blown away that it worked as brake cleaner would not touch it.

My cupholder door broke in the same place as yours. I flipped around the springs so the hold the door closed rather than hold it open. Then added a little pull tab to the middle top so I can open it to pop out a cupholder. It's a ball-ache of a job with the little springs but it works!
I'm interested in how you did this... did you document this anywhere?

No I didn't document the process (I had read about someone else doing it on a forum somewhere). Its pretty self explanitory when you push the hinge pin out and see which way the spring is working to hold the door open. You just unwind the spring a single turn and re-install.

Well, I thought I was all set for the next track weekend and I took my car to get a tech inspection. Turns out, the front left ball joint has a lot play in it as well as the right rear inner rod end on the toe arm.

Not impressed with the Rennline control arm performance. For those keeping track at home that's a grand total of a year and a half usage totaling 8,709 kilometers. Granted a lot of hard track usage but come on, that's garbage durability. I'm hoping it's a fluke, I bought and installed a replacement... if it happens again I'm buying the Tarett ones.

The toe link rod end wearing out annoys me slightly less. At least it's somewhat cheaper to replace, and I can easily get replacements from McMaster-Carr. I bought a couple so I'm ready for the next failure.

Car's all fixed up, I just need to verify the alignment and I'm all set... this time for real... I hope... knocks on wood
