Hey Joe ,Just wondering if this has had any actual wind tunnel testing or track testing with a stock VS your front splitter like the Porsche Front Splitters Aero Tech equipment has had in Germany ? how does this front piece actually affect the front end as far as down force goes ? It appears to be sticking out quite a bit in the front and that would act like a wing so wouldn't air go underneath and lift front end handling ? just curious about the air flow and its effect on the car . Thanks

This part hasn't been out long enough for any serious track time so the jury is still out on how much effect it will produce. This design is based on the other pieces I've done and have had good success with for the past 6 years. The only real differences are bumper contour and mounting.
Here is some feedback I received in another thread again its referring to a 996 piece but the same principals apply.

"I bought the splitter and dive planes from Joe for my 996 and I have to say the effect on the track of having both was amazing especially when the car would unweight coming over turn 1 at Laguna. The front end just felt glued to the track. The stabilizing effect both these have on the car cannot be overstated. One should probably consider more rear wing if running both the splitter and the dive planes on a Cayman on the track just to keep some semblance of balance.

Quality is great as well. Mine was constantly hitting the pavement yet it held up amazing well.

Glad to see you are working on a setup for the 987.2 Joe as I'd definitely consider using your stuff again, it's that good.

Rich"
Hope this helps.

I have a Toth 987.1 splitter in route and it will replace a damaged splitter on my primarily track Cayman S. I've repaired the splitter shown but splitters on track cars are "consumables".
Is it a splitter of a plow? LOL Are you going to add the dive planes too?

I too will be interested in a .2 splitter when they are available! I am interested to hear from the guys who add the splitter with no rear wing change on whether that changes the handling.

Joe, any interest in making a rear defuser?

Thanks, Mike

I am interested ! My concern is for those of us that use the car for road and some track. The furthest point from the wheels is the center middle front and that point is the most likely to hit first.

I do not know if this type of user can be accommodated by your products. I can see the dive planes as being useful to any user. How are the dive planes attached to the front bumper?

Thanks for any ideas you can share.

jaica....Your concern is valid. I drove o the street for over two years with under three inches ground clearance, call it testing. There are challenges, steep driveways, McDonald"s speed bumps etc. I learned how to deal with most obstacles and never tore off or damaged the splitter other than a few scrapes.
The dive planes attach with double sided tape in most cases and stay on. Some of the race cars use fasteners.

Joe, I for one, would be very interested in some sort of rear diffuser. It seems as if nobody makes one for our cars.

And, maybe some side extensions too? I believe a company used to make them, MotorLux, but, they went out of business or something along those lines.

Here are my recently installed skirts. If this is something Joe can make for the 987 community.... Photo was taken before I bought Joe's Splitter... funny thing is that my wing was from Motorlux :)

I saw a photo of this diffuser here on P9 awhile back and saved a photo. I would definitely be interested in something like this.

Very interesting. I'm always all over new ideas. All I need is car availability.
Shiftrcartracer..where are pics of your splitter installed?
Joe, ill send you an email sir. These are the only photos of the side splitters I have at the moment but just let me know what you need from me.

I'll post pics of the front splitters here in a bit...

Thanks!

toddo, I'm really sorry to see that. Your are about number four that has been damaged in transit in the past six years. Not to worry I will make a replacement and ship N/C in the next day or so, by Wednesday for sure. ..it happens and I replace and make good. I want happy customers.
Hey I appreciate that Joe. It's a shame it was damaged because it's a gorgeous piece. I've bought lots of fiberglass parts in the past for the various motorcycles I've owned, this is way better quality than anything I've seen. I can see why everyone loves your work. Thanks again, -Todd.
