I know this is very petty but the red portions of the crest on my key has worn off - is this normal? If so, is it possible to replace just the crest? Any other ideas in terms of getting my key to look new again?

Thanks for any insight

The car's obviously defective. I'll be happy to take it off your hands for a small fee. :D

Seriously, it's just enamel, and can wear off over time. You can always just use suitable metal paint (lacquer or enamel) and repaint it with a 000 or 00 detail brush (you can find one in any craft or hobby store).

Or, you could just let the rest of the paint wear off and end up with an all silver crest. I'm pretty sure that's going to be the next fad "mod". You'll be ahead of the curve.

The crest on one of my keys actually fell off and was lost. :( You think the warranty covers it? After all, if the crest on the hood falls off, the warranty would probably cover it, right? This is not even the key that I used most.

On only one day of use my key got some stains on it :(. They look like greasy rub marks and show under different light conditions. I tried cleaning with some Einzsett Cockpit Premium (meant for plastic, vinyl, rubber surfaces) but i couldnt remove them. I guess we just have to live with these issues, has anyone experienced that too?

The crest fell off of my key head yesterday. Does anyone know if replacements are available? 06 CS. Thanks.

It's enamel it will wear off. I have a Army Chaplain coin that I from the Chief of Chaplains when I retired. It is always in my pocket. Most of the enamel has worn off. Like Cayman S said, you can always touch up the crest with paints and brushes that you find at hobby stores.

I would like to have it to touch up. As it's missing all together the key looks quite bare and generic. Patina would be much better than black plastic. I have seen crests other keys on 911's and older models. I am hoping I can locate one for the cayman. Fell off during a trip to dealer.
