"Here are first photos showing the undisguised new Porsche GT2, which is scheduled for release by the end of this year.

The last generation GT 2 was called 'the widowmaker', and the new one could be called 'the noisemaker'. Testing in the snow of northern Scandinavia, one can hear the GT2 unmistakeably far from the distance, but for the true car fan it is rather music to the ears.

While the 4WD 997 Turbo delivers 480 bhp, the rear wheel drive GT2 will come up with at least 500 bhp. Weighing some 100 to 150kg less than the Turbo, the GT2 promises to become the ultimate driving machine."

Unfortunately my love of Porsche is not unlimited. The spoiler and rear valence is unattractive to say the least. Hopefully those that purchase the 997 version of the GT2 won't suffer the depreciation fate of the 996 GT2 variant.

I'm starting to get confused by all the 997 variants. So is the Porsche GT2 better than the Porsche GT3 and GT3 RS? Will there be a Porsche GT2 RS? Is it turbo charged or normally aspirated? The GT1 is the full race-onlty Porsche right?

The GT2 is a twin turbo but w/o the AWD of the standard Turbo. As a RWD rear engine car with 500HP it will be a handful to drive well, especially if PSM is defeated (assuming it comes with PSM and ABS). The GT3 is normally aspirated w/ 415HP as you know. These cars were initially intended as homologation production requirements for their respective GT racing groups, but I don't know if the homologation requirements are still in effect. Others here will undoubtedly chime in.

Leave it with Porsche to sell 911's in so many variations, and be so successful. It's too bad they won't do that with the Cayman. Can you imagine a Cayman Turbo, Cayman GT3, Cayman GT3 RS, etc...

But then, if they introduce all those Caymans, what would they do with the 911's

I love turbo cars but I need my Pcar to be RWD and NA for some reason. Just a hang-up of mine I guess because I love the 996/997 Turbo's but wouldn't buy one myself.

I'm sure the GT2 will be almighty though when it arrives...with an almighty price tag!

It looks incredible, but I think is a track car for the very good driver.....I have a friend who had the previous GT2 but he got rid of it due to the widowmaker reputation!!!

All that said if I could justify the ÂŁ120K!!!!!
